For k-1 fiancee visa, how much should i have in the bank to get the visa if i didnt submit affidavit of suport

i am the foreign fiance not the american, and im goin to submit my papers here to the embassy but i just dont want the affidavit of support coz my american fiancee needs to sign and its too much headache, i heard its 14000 for 2 persons per yr? 125% poverty line? so is 18000 dollars enough?
