Bruno Sammartino would beat the nature boy.

Sammartino was a better brawler so No DQ matches are right up his alley.

Flair would have easily taken Sammartino. Bruno was a popular champion. In those days the WWWF was really just a northeast territory that the NWA did not go into. Bruno was the handsome Italian that people could relate to, which in turn brought big money at the gates. Vince Sr. liked the money, and so did the board of directors. So they elected to let Bruno be champion. In the old wrestling days the champion was selected by a committee. That is why there were not as many title changes as there are nowadays. It really meant something to be champion back then. Nowadays people like David Arquette get to wear the belt, what a disgrace.
