Question:

For making Dal Makhani, does it matter to use whole, or split, dal (lentils) ?

Thank you to the first three responders. I was thinking perhaps split dal would cook faster, plus, be quicker/easier to mash.

  1. whole. split is only used for dosas. soak it for a few ours. overcook it.  


  2. whole dal - not split.  dont forget to add the butter that gives it the wonderful flavor.  happy eating post making
