Another ice age is likely, but at the present time the ramifications of global warming are much more imminent.

Imagine pushing a swing.  The higher you push it one direction, the further it swings back the other direction.  While it is not necessarily the case that increasing global temperatures will make the next ice age worse, we should remain mindful of our effect upon our environment.  People used to think they could just flush whatever foul refuse they wanted into our streams and rivers.  The result was toxic pollution that killed all the fish and made people sick.  So now we don't pollute our water.

Some folks think carbon dioxide is wonderful--that plants require it.  That is perfectly true, but concentrations of just about any substance can prove deleterious.  The people who wax glowing about carbon dioxide should try concentrating that gas by wrapping their heads in plastic bags.

Because I think it's all one big CON.

I am careful to switch things off and reduce waste and recycle were possible. I try to not use my car when I don't have to Etc.

But I do it because it seems stupid to waste things.

The world powers are able to manipulate us through our fears of global warming and do so most admirably

Because the cause of the "new ice age" is because of

GLOBAL WARMING.  If mankind didn't pollute the atmosphere with carbon dioxide the "new ice age" wouldn't be coming.

To u who said its all media hype!!!   Please explain how villages in Alaska r under water and the people had to be moved to higher ground.  Now how did the cycles do this if they never did this before

Because its turned into a media circus, there's no stopping it. There's alotta money to be made, and alotta fear has been injected into people even though the world has been going through natural cycles of heating and cooling, and an ice age is inevitable sometime in the near future and there's no stopping it. Everyone thinks Al Gore really cares about the environment, but remeber he was a politician, and politicians do nothing better than lie!

A lot of people claim to be experts and get very angry when people don't see their point of view (tree-huggin' pot heads) when in reality very few people in the world understand the complexities in geosciences. If your not a scientist/expert in climate change you really have no right in telling people thery're right or wrong.

Global warming could trigger an ice age (in particular parts of the world at least). If the polar caps were to melt then sea levels would rise enough to engulf a percentage of land.

I for one wouldn't want that to happen.

If we were to head into an ice age then there isn't really much stopping it (unless we contribute to global warming but this would be a silly idea because we could get it wrong and the damage could be high). All I know is that humans have been around for a little while and we're still here. Lets try to change as little as possible and all should be dandy!
