The Penrith Panthers captain, Trent Waterhouse said that his team was "lacking luck". Well Trent, how about you look at the Cowboys. Lost to Melbourne by 2, Rabbitohs by 4, Rabbitohs by 1 tonight, Panthers by 1 (which was a lucky drop goal anyway).

Imagine if the Cowboys won those games, they will be in the top 8. Thoughts?

  1. yep. thats the same withe the rabbits,

most of the games theyve lost have been by less that 6 points. very unlucky if you ask me.

  2. Obviously a Cowboys fan... You can call it luck, or whatever you want, but what is comes down to (most times) is the better team on the night gets those few points to come away with the win...

  3. The players have to make their own luck in this game. If the Cowboys had been lucky and won those games, then you would have to consider the opponents unlucky, you can't have it both ways, the better team on the night will win.

  4. Although the games were close and could be considered unlucky, the Cowboys still had chances to win everyone of them (especially the Storm game), and teams that want to threaten for a top spot in this competition need to win the close games. A prime example is the Cronulla Sharks who last year lost 9 games by 6 points or less, if they win 2 of those games they make the finals, this year they are winning those closer games (Parramatta last week) and find themselves in the top 4. So while some call it unlucky, it really comes down to the full 80, and not what happens in the dying stages that determines your team's position on the ladder.
