...How does that make it better?

Just think about it for a second.

Would you prefer be born to live one year in quite possibly horrible conditions and then killed, possibly less than humanely, or to not be born at all? I would certainly choose the latter...

So why do you use this argument? I'd prefer eat animals that were NOT born to die, i.e. hunt for food.

  1. ALL creatures are born to die. As soon as you are born, you are dying. Granted that make take quite a number of years but death is inevitable

As for your "would you prefer" question, why ask it at all? If you ask, the answer would most likely be "I prefer not to die at all".

Another poster is right, no one gets to choose not to be born. You are simply a product of circumstances. You don't get to choose. "I choose not to be born" is a paradox. Before you can choose not to exist, you have to exist to make the choice.

Last, I do not understand why you would seriously take that argument into consideration and formulate a rebuttal. It's an opinion. You can agree or disagree but you don't have to argue.

  2. i look at it as the animal that died is doing me a favor.

  3. Animals are specifically raised for slaughter, so yes, I guess the mantra of 'born to die' fits your opinion.  You are incorrect in assuming that an animal and a human have the same thought process in regards to knowing their future and aware of their surroundings.

BTW, I do hunt for most of my food, I don't trust the stuff at the grocery store.

  4. You could address a person as "pig" or "dog", and that is not the worst scenario (if u're vegetarian, surely will not use such humiliating words on people). People are dying in many parts of the world in hunger, starvation, poverty, famine (and hopefully u're not one of them). If you belief that they're (Human) "NOT born to die", at least you're still evolving intellectually. There are still much time for you to evolve beyond... mercy & compassion to defenseless beings... without any "conditioning".

  5. The big problem vegetatians/vegans think is that animals are equal to humans, they`re NOT, humans> animals. However I don`t think animals should be abused.

  6. Such a sad state of the our society, where people would rather talk about saving the poor animals than going out into their community and trying something to improve it. There are children in the this country who are dying of malnutrition, abuse, and other terrible things, yet you sit here and complain about the poor animals, who by the way were only put on this Earth to do one thing: eat or be eaten. If God wanted it something else, God would have made everyone a herbivore, but then there would a lot of dead animals laying everywhere and no plants.

So instead of poor animals, go save the life of a child.

  7. What idiot uses the argument "It was born to die?"

The argument I use for eating animals is that if we were't meant to eat them, why are they made of meat?

I'm a card carrying PETA member.

  8. Animals were not born to die. That's a crappy excuse. Another poster said ''if they were not meant to eat why are they made out of meat?''. That's not good logic is it. Humans are made out of meat so we should eat ourselves then?

If you want to eat meat then whatever- go fo it but don't come up with lame excuses because you don't need excuses. Just eat what the h**l you want to. It's that simple.

  9. I agree with you, I would choose to not be born at all. I'm a vegetarian btw.

  10. Some people troll this section obsessively but never even bother to see how s**+tty the lives of these animals are. They feel the need to defend themselves but don't even know what they are up against. I suppose that it's easier for them to remain ignorant.

  11. personally dying of old age as a human is bad aswell plus all the pain yet i dont want to be shot.

  12. I have thought about it for the better part of 69 years and quite frankly it does not bother me.  None of us get to decide to be born and the vast majority do not get to decide when or how to die.  For many, death is not an easy event.  I have butchered animals and I have seen them die in many ways.  One of the worst deaths for an animal is to die of old age.

    Edit

Most of the animals I have seen die of old age did so after losing their teeth and then starving to death in the wintertime.
