  1. guppies and bettas are tropical but i am not sure is it is hot enough to have them in a pond

mosquito fish (i think there coldwater live bearers) eat it

  2. guppies are great for getting rid of mosquito larvae

  3. betta fish feed off larvae.

  4. i have ordinary 29 cent goldfish(comets) in my small pond.

  5. you need to get some gambusia (the mosquito fish) they look like uncolored guppies, usually you can find them in a creek or pond

just catch some and transfer them to your pond

also some of the water garden companies sell them I think

    (like Lilyponds, Van Ness, etc)

  6. Fathead minnows are great at eliminating mosquito larvae.  They are a native species to the midwest (Gambusia affinis - mosquito fish are not).  You can buy them cheaply at a bait dealer.  I've studied these fish for biological control of mosquito larvae and they work great.
