For moms Nursing past 10 months...when did your periods finally get back to normal?

I was wondering, because my baby is now 10 months old, and I have only had 2 periods. One last month sometime(I am so bad at remembering) and another one a few months before that. I know I ovulated this month, because I get cramps when I ovulate. But I would usually have my period about a week later, and I got nothing. This was the second time this month that I got my ovulation cramps. My DH has been impotent due to his medicine, and we are not trying to conceive, but he did get off his meds and get it on with my after more than a year of celibacy. The only thing is, I had those ovulation cramps about 3 days before, so it's likely I will become pregnant, but I won't know when my period is late. Ugg. I had dreams last night that I got a VERY bright positive test, but I usually get very faint ones. Sigh. Can anyone tell me when I should test, since I really don't know when my period will be late. The baby dancing was done on Sunday.

  1. Ok, I breast fed each of my three kids for 18 months each. In each case my periods didn't return to full normal until almost the 2 year mark and I got pregnant twice while breastfeeding (I was not using it as birth control, we wanted to have more children). You can be fully fertile while breastfeeding even if your periods haven't returned at all so there is always a good chance that you are pregnant again. Wait another 2-3 weeks and test again. Good luck.

  2. I breast fed my second daughter until she was 2. I never did get my period until after I delivered my third daughter. I ovulated and got pregnant before I ever had a period. The way I found out was that I went for my annual check up and my mid-wife thought it was a good idea to take a pregnancy test, I was 3 mths pregnant. The only way to know for sure is to take a test.
