For moms of teen girls: why don't you want them to try tampons?

There are a lot of questions from teen girls who want to at least try tampons so they can swim or whatever. There's a lot of speculation about why some mothers won't even let their daughters try.

I'm a mom of a teen, and I didn't have any concerns. My daughter uses tampons just fine now, and has from the first (at age 14). But I know other moms disagree, so I thought it might be productive to ask why.

my mom says that i cant use them ( age 13) because it will be like having s*x she said that after i have s*x i could use them ?? its weird i dont get it =[

good question, Im a mom to a 11yr old who just had her 1st cycle and Im not ready for her to use them and she has told me that she wouldnt want to use one. However when she is a little older and it is causing her not to swim or what not Im not sure what the problem would be. I dont agree with mothers who say b/c its like haveing s*x. Thats just weird to me. I want my girls to feel comfortable with me and tell me everything, if I wont even be woman enough to explain the tampon to them what else will they not ask me.
