The wine was leaving stains on her teeth. Orbit's saying that chewing their gum cleaned her mouth.

In the commercial they kept toasting a drinking red wine (which stains your teeth).  It was just saying that the gum is supposed to remove those stains from your teeth.  Hope this helps make sense of the commercial for you.

Like so many commercials, it doesn't make logical sense, but then so many commercials appeal to the basest of instincts and the lowest of intelligence. I'm amazed at how many don't mention the name of the product until the end. It's like all those ad agencies and execs are just trying to win some creative award.
