Question:

For most of my life, I have been ridiculed for speaking properly (aka talking "white") and playing the violin

I've noticed that most of the people I hang with are white. I know that it is natural to gravitate towards those that are more accepting of you. What other issues could I possibly be dealing with?

  1. It sounds like you're having guilt issues for hanging out with white people, when you don't really need to have them.  People who don't like what you do with yourself drop hints about it and make you feel guilty for what you're doing.  If it makes you happy, and it doesn't hurt anyone, then what's the problem.  People are people.

  2. I think this does happen to a lot of black students and I'm sorry you're going through this.  Racism, from whatever quarter, is the most important issue in the last and this present century, IMHO.  I think every white person in America should approach a black one and apologize.  "I'm sorry"  doesn't necessarily mean "I'm guilty" (though we're guilty as we can be);  it can also mean "I regret."  I regret that you and, most certainly, your predecessors, were treated badly.

What you're dealing with is resentment.  I'd ignore it.
