For muscle development- is it best to not swim everyday?

as in weight training where you give your specific set of muscles time to heal?

If you swim everyday do you notice better results after time off?

  1. I asked something similar years ago regarding gymnasts.  Our son swims daily, 5 days a week for an hr.  Some of the other kids in the club swim 2 hrs. daily.  Swimming doesn't stress the muscles like weight training.. I used to run every other day.. 5 miles.. For me, my body needed a rest.. See how your body feels.. If you get sore or burnt out, take a rest day in between..


  2. Most Swimmers swim every day, except just before Competition. On  the Teams I am affiliated with, every day is a DIFFERENT practice, so that different muscles are being developed each day.
