For my class I'm required to follow a Dress Code (speech class)?

Please help! I need to follow this dress code

*Dress slacks, skirt, or business dress or business suit.

*Long sleeve blouse tucked in slacks or skirt if you are not wearing a dress.

*Tie or scarf worn at the neck.

*Dress shoes (no sandals) and hose in the winter and spring semesters

For 5 extra credit points added to each speech grade, if you wear:

*A to the knee length business dress with sleeves or

*A to the knee length skirt with blouse with sleeves and a jacket, or a suit but not a pant suit.

Ok so first where are some good places to get these? I live near Arlington Heights IL, i've got a wood-field mall about 15 minutes away from me, so I can go there. BUT

What's the difference between a Suit, and a Pant Suit?

And I kind of don't want to wear a dress/skirt because this class is in the fall/winter, so it's going to be extremely cold.

Does anybody know of really good places to get any of those things? or something?

i was thinking I could wear black slacks, a colored blouse (like red or dark orange or something I don't know, and then wearing one of those vests over it. Or is that not enough?

Please help!?

  1. I would say:

Knee-length dress with woolen tights (or other warm tights), heels or professional looking flats, and a blazer or topper of some sort.

High waisted trousers with a ruffle blouse (tucked in), heels, and a blazer.

Matching skirt and jacket with once again warm tights and heels or flats. Wear a blouse that coordinates w/ the colors.

Do you have to wear a scarf?

If not, then don't. If you do...

I would have no idea how to incorporate that.

Look at Gap or Ann Taylor or other stores like that. They have really great classic pieces.

    A suit is typically a male's suit and a pantsuit, a woman's suit.

  2. Ok when I was in college, we had to dress up for our public speaking class.

Most of the girls wore a knee length skirt (either black or navy blue) with a white long sleeve blouse. Hose wasn't required. Shoes were either flats or a very small heel. (black)

tie or  scarf wasn't required for females. guys had to wear a f-ing tie ( I hate wearing a tie and never did for that class. In fact that was what one of my speeches was on.)

Pantsuit is what Hilary Clinton wears. Kind of tacky.

If you wear black slacks I don't know about the red or orange, I think I would stick with your plain white.
