  1. I like the Mazda 3 because it is fun to drive but 07 Sonata the better car value out of all of them. It's MUCH bigger inside then the Accent, 3 and Jetta. The Elantra is the second largest out of the list.

Because of the Sonata's more advanced engine it actually gets around the same mpg as the the smaller cars mentioned and has standard safety systems like traction and stability control.

Not as fun to drive but it is a better car for the money. If it's "certified" it will have the balance of a 10 yr 100k warranty.

  2. ANYTHING but the HYundai....I would get the Jetta....then you at least have a car with respect....Hyundais are generally owned by students and poor people (low or no class)

  3. Throw out the Accent and the Jetta.  You won't be happy with either of them for different reasons.

The accent is just too small and not that safe (even with 6 airbags).  The Jetta is VW garbage.  Not reliable and expensive to fix.

Any of the others you are looking at are good choices.  Test drive all of them and pick the one you like best.

The Elantra is a great deal for the money.

  4. Hi Katharine,

I'd say go for the Mazda3. It has won MANY awards, looks good, is very zippy and is most importantly, VERY reliable. The Accent and Elantra are really small (my cousins have them and let's just say it's kinda cruel to have passengers sit in the back). The Sonata is (actually) a good choice. However (and I don't know how much this matters to you), the car is not as fun to drive...Sure it has adequate interior space and power, but it doesn't look as good as the Mazda3 and it lacks the zoom zoom zoom (or fun-ness) that the Mazda3 possesses. Finally, the VW Jetta is a decent car. Volkswagen has a notorious reliability record...HOWEVER, it HAS gotten better. Nevertheless, it's still not up to par with Japanese cars. If you're thinking of buying a new Jetta, then do consider it but if it's used, I'd be more cautious. Also, the Jetta doesn't get as good of a gas mileage as the Mazda3, and the insurance will be a little bit higher (because it's more costly to repair European cars). Good luck with your car search!

  5. ELANTRA, MAZDA, JETTA, SONATA, ACCENT

  6. Out of the 4 choices you've named I'd definitely go with the Sonata as my first choice and Accent as my last choice with the 3 2nd, Elantra 3rd and Jetta 4th.  The Sonata is the only model among these that is a Consumer Reports best buy and its also the largest and nicest model on your list.  The Mazda 3 sport is defintely the funnest car to drive and you can find a 2 yr old one for a very nice deal around $11-12K.  Mazda's quality is almost as good as Hyundai and it is big enough for 4 adults, but not as refined as the Sonata.

  7. Wow, somebody's a d!ck, Papa. . .

Anyway, I have an Elantra and it's nice, gets me from A to B. My ex has a Mazda3, and I like it much better. It's quick, sleek and has a good warranty. The Accent is a coffin and the Sonata isn't worth the price. As for the Jetta, I would stay away. My uncle's an ASE master mechanic and Jettas are his most frequent customers; also, their warranty is no where near Hyundai or Mazda.

I like the comfort of the Hyundai warranty, but I'm looking for something a bit sportier.
