Question:

For nascar fans and fans of the olympics part ii

thanks for your responses to my earlier question, and as promised, my feelings were not hurt by any of them. it was more of a "general observation" than anything else so no answer could really be wrong - ok, i lied, a couple were flat out wrong, but i'll leave that up to you to decide which.

;-)

but onto the followup - as an additional detail to the question i added that we are constantly defending nascar as a sport and in doing so claiming our drivers are every bit as athletic as in any other sport.

given that, and a little bit of imagination, at what olympic sport (summer or winter) do you think your favorite driver (or any driver) could excel, if any, assuming he had trained specifically for it?

and with a bit more imagination, what olympic sport would you LIKE to see your driver competing in and how would he do, given that training?

for a simple example: for the first question i'd say carl edwards could probably do fairly well in one of the cycling events. for the second question i'd say that although i might not care for it as much, many female fans would probably like to see him compete in the swimming competition...

;-)

so what do you think?

  1. is this the question? ...."and with a bit more imagination, what olympic sport would you LIKE to see your driver competing in and how would he do, given that training?"

    here is my answer-

let's see i would like to see

    carl edwards in gymnastics

    kevin harvick in boxing

tony stewart in table tennis (ping pong)

dale earnhardt, jr. in water polo

    kyle busch in badminton

    joey lagano in diving

Gregg Biffle in eventing (horse back riding)

    edit:

    i forgot

    -Jeff Gordon gymnastics

  2. Geoff Bodine runs the Olympic Bobsled program for the U.S., and every year they have a charity bobsled race with NASCAR drivers and they're pretty good. Boris Said usually wins it though. d**n road course ringer. lol

  3. Kasey kahne, summer olympics, volleyball, lol

Jeff Gordon, summer olympics, running (get it? Cause he's just that fast)

tony Stewart, summer olympics, eating competition, haha lol, there should be an eating competition

    Jimmie Johnson,  summer olympics, swimming

Dale Jr., winter olympics, snowboarding, cause he's so cool

  4. I could see it now 43 of the usual suspects cycling along the china wall bumping and rubbing. Drafting right on the back rim of the guy in front of him using the slingshot and the crossover move. Oooh there goes Mikey Waltrip he crashed in turn one.OMG kyle busch and Dale Jr. Are fighting for the lead, they're swapping paint and driving hard oh here come Jimmie Johnson, Jr and Kyle get loose and Johnson passes for the win. Jimmie then grabs the USA flag and rides back down the mountain in his own version of the polish victory lap!!

  5. Fun question.  I am loving the Olympics.

I'd say Junior would be great in Archery since he likes to hunt.

Maggie, Tony Stewart pie eating....Love it!

Speaking of Tony Stewart today I went out to lunch and at the Home Depot right near my work here in MI, Tony's crashed Vegas car was there, all fixed of course.  Had my picture taken with it.  Got to check out the cockpit, never been close enough to see the inside of one, the cockppit is tiny can't figure out how ole Smoke fits....JK, really it was pretty cool.  Then on the way back we saw Kyle Busch's car hauler parked in a hotel parking lot near here.  Had my picture taken next to that as well.

Go figure, the 2 drivers I care for the least are right HERE.  Hahaha!!!  Regardless it was pretty awesome.  Had to share.

  6. Kyle Busch in the street luge. Because it's crazy, scary, and fun to watch.

Jeff Gordon in the pole vault just because that would be funny to watch

  7. Tony Stewart: Pie eating contest.

    ROFL...okay sorry.

    Tony Stewart - Football, Wrestling

    Kyle Busch - Kayak slalom

    Elliot Sadler - Shooting, Equestrian

    Robby Gordon - Fencing

Juan Pablo Montoya - Synchronized Swimming

  8. I think it would be cool to see a few of them do the modern pentathlon, which is a 5-event contest that consists of fencing, shooting, swimming, horse show-jumping, and a 3000m cross-country run. It would be a good opportunity to see all of their skills, in one way or another, lol!

Not too sure how my guy would do though, Jr probably wouldn't survive a run that long, much less having already done all that other stuff first!

  9. I think Kurt could be good in speed skating. His ears could help him with downforce through the turns. I'm only kidding. Given the training I think he could be ok in speed skating.

Kurt would do well in bobsledding since he likes to run sideways so much. He could figure out how to drive a loose bobsled.

  10. These are just some drivers I can see in an Olympic Sport

    Kyle Busch-diving

    Jimmie Johnson-water polo

    Carl Edwards-gymnastics

    Robbie Gordon-volleyball

    Kasey Kahne- synchronized swimming

  11. 'Shrub, .... and Bob sleding.'
