  1. I think its a magical place, my mother is from the Seychelles and we lived there for a few years and that is supposedly paradise but i prefer Ireland, its beautiful and charming and so green all the time and even when its raining it's okay because you feel cosy, come to galway!!

  2. Being from N. Ireland I am British and not Irish so can say lots about Ireland. Its a nice place and divided into two parts Southern Ireland which is Irish and Northern Ireland which is British. Both parts are of course complete opposites in terms of culture, religion, language interests sports etc, With the war by the IRA until 1998 trying to force the British to leave the British part finaly ended by the IRA defeat, the country is of course much more peaceful and friendly. There are a few IRA sypathetic people still around but most are old and dying out literally speaking. The young people want a fresh start and not keep living in the past.

Digipics-How can you have a northern Ireland without a southern Ireland?  Your answer tells the asker nothing but shows a lack of understanding. N. Ireland is not a province any more than southern Ireland is. Its a country like Scotland and accepted by every country in the world except you as part of the United Kingdom. As I said some IRA sympathisers still lie around. Point made.

  3. Alan m, I don't know what books you are reading or where you are getting your information from.  There is no such country as Southern Ireland, it is the Republic of Ireland and both parts are not polar opposites, all cultures on this island have more in common than they do apart.  And for the second time, the IRA has not been defeated by military means, they are still in existence just like Loyalist paramilitaries but hopefully they will come in from the cold (all the Loyalist paramilitaries) and sit down at the negotiation table as that is the only way forward.  And Northern Ireland isn't a country, it's a province.

  4. I'm Irish and have lived here all my life but have travelled widely and so am in a position to compare: First it is one of the most expensive countries in the world with prices of just about everything rising fast, next, often service is unsatisfactory, roads and public transport are bad and the weather is awful. On the up side, we have beautiful scenery and there is plenty to do. It really is a green country and has a thriving tourist industry. Most people are friendly and you can drink the tap water.

  5. a country rich in history and culture, divided into two parts. 32 counties...each one different in its own ways. When travelling through Ireland theres alot of untouched land,so it feels alot different than the U.S and lots of places. There is alot to do in Ireland and alot to see. I love the food and the friendliness of the people and the wide open fields and everything about it. I would definitely recommend you going! its beautiful! good luck [=
