For old-school wrestling fans....?

A question about the Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels feud.

WQ: Arguably, this feud will go down in history as one of the best WRESTLING feuds of all time. It is not a soap opera feud where "you made a move on my wife" or anything like that. It's a very personal feud about who's the better man and luckily, it involves two wrestlers who can wrestle a brilliant match and cut a great promo alone and together.

So, what other feud would you compare this feud with? We've had classics in the past involving stars such as Ric Flair, Hogan, Steamboat, Undertaker, Austin, Rock, HHH etc...

Is this feud one of the best you've seen or not? What feuds did you enjoy better than this? What feuds does this feud compare with? And how would you like to see it end?

Thanks fans, and enjoy whatever else we can see from this truly delightful feud that WWE are giving to us.

  1. Yes, i do like this current feud remeber like not love. I tought it was a great idea putting two of the best superstars in history in a feud.... but then it happened. It got treally annoying seeing those stupid promos, c**p about i will kick ur ***, leaving my fam out of it, and all.

Right after Y2J lost to Orton his returning gimmick derived all the sudden, he kept that rivalry with HBK.... wait how did it all start again see i dont even remeber cause on my perspective they turned a historical feud of two greats to a Cena look - alike title reign, then again it's just my opinion!

But altought this feud could have been better then it was or is going there are still way better ones, like:

    1. HBK & Bret Hart( Oh man, no one can say they didn't like this rivalry)

    2. Edge & Matt( WOW, turning a real life story into a show Vince u might have been noisy but u know how to do business)

    3. The Rock & Stone Cold( What can i say, legendary and had a bitter sweet ending)

    4. Undertaker & Kane( That was the start of the WWE)

    Starred Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Booker T vs Chris Benoit's WCW feud. It was a feud we're both guys were actual faces but were fighting for the respect of ultimate supremacy. Each match was 5 stars.

  3. Oh, there are lots of feuds that really kept my interest.  Road Warriors vs the Koloffs.  Von Erichs vs the Freebirds.  Hogan vs Piper.  Bret Hart vs HBK.  In Japan, the Dynamite Kid vs Tiger Mask, or Misawa vs Kawada.  The list goes on and on.

  4. Its one of the best.

In this fued I'm behind Y2J. Its basically a fued between two normal human beings & not a face-heel fued or a facr-face fued that WWE would always give.

I'm eagerly waiting to know who'll be at the top when this fued ends.

I'd compare Bret Hart- Austin fued & Matt Hardy/Edge?Lita fued with this one & this is the best ever.

We will NEVER EEEEEEEEEEVVER get a fued like this from WWE AGAINNN

  5. This feud between Jericho and Chris Jericho is being done properly. Every tool that was designed to help build up the story was utilized with excellent results. The video recaps, the interviews, the promos, and some added elements of real life involving both wrestlers have been brought into the program to make this story as real as it can be.

It's always better when you have something that everyone can relate to. When people can relate, it works. The fued has not only helped Jericho cement his heel turn seamlessly, but has completely brought out a totally different side of Shawn Michaels that I don't think we've ever seen. You can actually sympathize with both characters. Shawn for being the victim and Jericho for being rejected. People really care about these two characters and how the story develops.

Concerning Jericho his heel turn was well planned. Not only was he intentionally trying to shed his former image of "Y2J" and come into his own as a new personality, but the WWE's design and foresight of his turn allowed his to simulteneously turn heel and bring a brand new side to his character. It wasn't built on cheap heat from the crowd or done because Jericho couldn't get over - it was done the right way - with time, patience, and planning.

In fact, what Jericho has said about Michaels since the beginning of the story has had TRUE depth to it. It's got a certain realism. If you really think about what Jericho has said about Shawn Michaels it's hard to argue that Jericho is wrong. As fans, they don't want to allow a heel like Jericho to turn them against their supposed hero, so they blow of what he says and they boo him. I mean, after all, he's dissing Shawn Michaels. However, the most interesting part of what Jericho says is that when he tells the fans that they aren't listening to reason, not opening their eyes, and not seeing the truth - he's actually right. People have fallen in love with and supported a man who has time and time again lied, cheated, and turned his back on his friends.

It's interesting to see how both men aren't fueding over a belt, or because of a competative nature, but because of an intense hatred of what the other stand for. It's something that we don't often see built up in stories anymore. Usually the feud tends to stem from either wrestlers' quest for a belt, but this one is different. This one is based on emotion.

My favorite part of the story is the way Jericho has evolved throughout the story. He wasn't particularly a bad-***, a bully, or a ruthless individual. His transition into becoming a heel reminds me a lot of how Bret Hart became rejected by the fans forcing him to grow angry and violent towards the WWE's favorite superstar at the time Stond Cold Steve Austin.

Look at the story so far and (from his character's point of view) put yourself in Jericho's shoes

    - Jericho comes back for the fans to "save" a company who lacks a real honest hero, or a role model. While trying to be that hero, instead, he finds that the fans applaud and look up to someone like Shawn Michaels, who Jericho begins to see as a terrible person, as a great hero.

    - Jericho can't comprehend this, becomes confused and bitter at the fans for how 'blind' they are being, and then tries to make a reasonable arguement against Michaels, only to be rejected by the fans for speaking against their hero.

    - Now, after begging and pleading for fans to see Shawn for their true anti-hero he is, the fans turn on him. Jericho feels that he has no choice but to end the whole ordeal by ending Michaels, his career, and ridding the WWE of Michaels for good.

*To answer your question I compare this fued with Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin in the way that Hart tried to be the hero to the fans, tried to make the fans see how bad of a role-model Austin was, and in the end was turned on by the fans which eventually led to Hart becoming the heel who would mercilessly attack Austin in order to rid the WWE of him. It's definately one of the best fueds in recent years, and it's up there with many of my others favorites like:

    - Edge and Matt Hardy

    - Trish and Mickie James

    - Benoit and Kevin Sullivan (WCW)

    - Hart and Austin

    - Mankind and The Undertaker

I'd like to see the fued end with Michaels on top as I see him as someone who is like a man pushed too far. A man who has to dig deep inside himself to fight fire with fire and face the man who has single handedly beaten Michaels worse than anyone has in the history of his career. I like Jericho's character and story just as much, but I still like to have Shawn come out on top and see the good side prevail over evil.

  6. I think that it is a good feud in today's day and age with the different story lines and all. Personally, I liked the days back when Hogan vs. Flair, Flair vs. Savage, Hogan vs. Savage, Austin vs. McMahon, Rick Rude vs. Ultimate Warrior and even Mr. Perfect vs. Bret Hart. Favorite probably being Andre the Giant vs. Hogan that was the best at WMIII in Detroit. Also DiBiase Sr. had some great feuds.

  7. i saw the behind the scenes, but for just dramatic matches it had anything to do with mick foley

    undertaker vs mick foley

    the rock vs mick foley

    hhh vs mick foley

    all classics

  8. Steamboat vs Savage feud that setup the Wrestlemania 3 match could be compatible.  Instead of the eye it was the throat that got "seriously injured".  Also Hayabusa vs Mr. Ganasuke where the heel in this feud being Mr. G tried to steal Hayabusa's identity.  Dusty Rhodes vs the Horsemen was also a great feud built around a personal grudge.  How to end the HBK vs Y2J feud well it would have to be an Iron Man match at a major PPV like Wrestlemania......or it could be a hair-vs-retirement match or they can overbook it TNA style and make it all of the above in a cage with no rope barbed wire with exploding c4 with weapons on a pole and the wife's can be ringside to throw in the towel....
