For or against school uniforms? (teens only)?

Im personaly against them. As a student i feel that we are discriminated of our rights to be able to choose our own clothes. Some say its for the best others disagree. Why arent teachers made to wear uniform?

However i think that we should have a minor dress code.

Whats your personal opinion on this matter?

  1. agianst bcuz i dont have that many uniforms so it i s a hassel trying to get one in tha morning

  2. I agree with school uniforms!!

I had to wear one from the age of 4 to about 16! doesn't really effect anything! if anything it stops that awful feeling in the morning when you don't know what to wear. You also have to take into consideration the people who cant afford the best of clothes, how do you think they would feel not having a uniform?

A uniform doesn't take anything away from the person wearing it, if you have to wear your own clothes to show off your personality then i think that's really sad!!

I don't think teachers should have to wear a uniform either, they would have had to wear one at school just like i did. Teachers also have to wear smart clothes almost like a uniform.

  3. well.... the school i went to had no uniforms, but we had a dress code.

for me, anything that is a rule is already a big no-no, as is for almost all other teens. second, many schools have butt-ugly uniforms. thirdly, you are susceptible to violence from other schools if you walk around on the streets in your uniform (only in some parts of the world).

i'd say to offer a cool looking uniform, japanese ones are awesome, but to not require for it to be worn. kids will automatically start wearing them that way, it will be "cool" if it's not required.

a dress code should however be enforced. it keeps the image of the school clean.

  4. Against. I hate school uniforms. As part of growing up you need to develop a sense of fashion and personality. If you only get to experiment with fashion and makeup 2 times a week then your not going to really develop into your own person.

  5. It depends what the uniform is like. At our school it looks alright, so I don't really mind. Although it would be better if teachers would have to wear uniform too!

  6. i think its good.. because it a less hassle of having to buy so much clothes fuh skool.. and also less laundry.. (wit or wit out uniforms derz goin ot be groups of popularity)

  7. well, in england, we have to wear uniform, until in some schools, when you reach sixth form, you can wear what you want. Personnally, i think they are disgusting, uncomfy and boring, but it saves the poorer kids from being bullied by not having the most fashionable stuff etc. I answered a question this morning about some brat wanting hollister and stuff, but her mum couldnt afford it... it just generates brats.

  8. i hate them, exactlly waht you said we get no chance to express our indivduality. Andit gets annoying knowing that more than half the school is maybe wearing the same uniform that day. lol.

  9. I'm neutral.

the main reason some schools have uniforms is so no one gets picked on/judged for what they wear.

on the other hand, who actually wants to wear uniforms? .___.

  10. I am on both sides, both have their different reasons.

For: Well, now-a-days, kids, mostly girls, like to show off sexuality and such. And I've always loved the schoolgirl uniform, and as for the guys, it makes them look hot. :D

And, you could also show off your personality by adding accessories and such. Like bracelets, rings, and headbands, for girls of course. For guys, the could roll up the ends of the sleeves a bit or have their collars put there. You know, stuff like that.

Against: It doesn't express who you are. All the kids where those same stupid uniforms, and it can get super boring.

  11. yeah i agree with you.

the way we dress is how we express ourselves

and i certainly dont think its fair that teachers can wear whatever they want.

i used to have to wear a uniform and it sucked!

not only are they hot and uncomfortable, there ugly lol

and i know at my school, we would have been better off just wearing our normal clothes (with a bit of a dress code) becuase with all the girls running around in kilts, it was really easy for boys to see up them. a guy took a picture up my kilt once :|

    aand there expensive!

but now that i go to a public school, i like it much better.

im more comfortable during the day and i dont wear skirts, so no ones taken pictures of my underwear rofl

i feel like more of an individual with my regular clothes, which is good cause i hate looking like everyone else.

my school was really strict though. we couldnt have any facial piercings and our hiar couldnt be crzy colours and styles. and basicly any attempt you made to make yourself look unique (as in, coloured shirts under uniform tops, layring uniform pieces, lots and lots of jewlery, regular sweaters) they got you in trouble and made you change.

so yeah, i agree with you.

    i hate uniforms

    :D

  12. i like them, i like wearing the schoolgirl outfit

  13. FOR!!!

I have been in public, private and christian schools, and all that time i thought that the uniforms were daggy and annoying.

Finally, i went to a school where there was no uniform, and let me tell u buddy, it was a nightmare every morning. Everyone was paranoid about what to wear, whether it would be acceptable to wear it again the next week, whether someone else would be wearing the same thing (uh oh..... you'd get daggers for "copying"), etc...

In hindsight, id definitely prefer uniforms over casual clothes!

  14. Considering that, in general, our generation can't figure out that clothes are to COVER the body, not REVEAL it, I believe school uniforms are great! It's also a way that kids will be forced to develop some personality other than the one they are judged by when they wear non-uniform clothes (I think the whole "personality" and "creativity" argument is pathetic; shouldn't we be encouraging development of personality as social human beings, not just as mannequins?). I think also that uniforms bring about a feeling of solidarity, showing that, yes, we are all in this together. And everyone knows that sometimes it really is a matter of just pulling together and roughing it, because school can just be miserable sometimes.

The teachers are adults that should be respected, and, well, they're teaching us things we need to know in life - even if it seems like a bunch of jumbled and useless information right now.

Having always worn a uniform to school, I can go to school to learn and not ever worry about what I'm going to wear. I know that sounds cliche', but really, so many people get caught up in this issue that if everyone wore uniforms, no one would complain about it because we would all be more concerned about our education, truly happy for the opportunities we have to even attend school. The concept of learning shouldn't ever be overshadowed by material things (clothes definitely included).

It's not really a matter of discrimination but more a matter of what's best for us. Until our generation can pull itself out from under all these labels that we often times give ourselves and prove that we are responsible, are good-intentioned, don't have to take guns and drugs to school in order to show up, etc., I don't think we'll be able to convince the country that we can even dress ourselves properly.

Sad but true reality, definitely not helped by the media and "celebs."

    ;-)

  15. I'm for uniforms. They make students feel equal and the same. You don't have to spend like an hour each morning just picking out your clothes and deciding what earrings would match this outfit.

  16. i'm neither against it nor for it. But if i was to choose, i would say against. Speaking from experience.. back in my country, my school had a dress code.. we had to wear uniforms everyday... and most of the teachers, focus on the student dress code, and rules.. and just punish everyone who go against there dress code.. even though its just a little issue(for example wearing a pink ribbon in the hair while the uniform is bule). Well yeah it was just stupid... and thats all they focus on.. and never spent much time on teaching as they did regulating dress code..

Now in america.. most public school dont have a dress code.. we students wear whatever we want.. and the teachers spent more time teaching, than bothering with what the kids are wearing. School is a place where the brain takes control... it doesn't matter what we wear.. all that matters is if we do what we are there for--which is to learn..
