For other dudes; Do you find it important to remember different facts and show what you know to other people?

I've studied and read a lot, I have a large curiosity about many things. However, I hardly remember any of them. I mean, I remember the gist of them, but not the real facts. Then when I'm talking to a certain person or two that I know, I feel like a dummy when I can't remember them. Perhaps I've had too many beers or something, I don't know. But what I'm wondering, is this a guy trait that I'm missing, needing to know facts to show what I know, or is this just something some guys, or for that matter people in general, feel they need to do to show how smart they are. I usually don't feel like I have to feel smarter than others, but I don't like feeling dumber, either! lol Your take? Okay, gals if you wanna chime in, what's your opinion?
