I am writing a paper and need to know whether parents would pay a couple of dollars more to take their kids to a good-for-you fast food restaurant. It includes vegetarian burgers, baked "fries" and rice/soy based ice creams and shakes

  1. Foe sure take them to the organic vegetarian food restaurant!

  2. No.  For those few times my son ever wants fast food, he gets the real deal.  I don't want him to be like all the kids I grew up with who were not able to watch TV, and now carry around all this anger about not having been allowed to do what all the other kids were doing.

  3. Being vegetarian, I would if I had kids. The smell of meat, beef whatever in Mc.Donalds make me want to puke, especially all that grease in those burgers - can't believe people eat that junk.

  4. can you name an "organic vegetarian fast food restaurant?"

  5. I like the idea of healthier options like 'baked' not fried etc, but our family like meat & I am put off by the term 'organic' because to me it means 'expensive'. I may try it as a one off but it would not be likely to become a regular thing.

  6. Definitely. McDonalds is a form of child abuse.

  7. Of course I would. Even at the grocery store when she wants junk food and asks why I won't buy it I say, "Because I love you too much to put that junk in your body." And she likes it when I say that. Mc Donalds is good too though. That's out of the house food.

  8. vegetarian burgers are good but i wouldnt go to a organic restuarant. you know how much more organic food cost???? a arm and a leg. and i dont take my kids out that much neither not to mcdonalds. i usually cook my own food. better choice for heathly foods, saving money and spending time with kids. so put me down as stay at home and cook. you should add that in your question...or rather stay home and cook.

  9. I sure would in a heart beat!! I feed my daughter veggies, and all kinds of healthy dishes at home!! I even forbid her to drink soda's all of the time!! The only time that my daughter drinks soda, is if I take her out to eat, and she would drink soda as a treat!!

She thinks they taste to sweet, because she is so accustomed to drinking Water, Milk, or Juice 95% of the time!! I think that your idea of an organic fast food restaurant is a wonderful and brilliant idea!! I wish you well, and hope that your idea is a success!! Best wishes to you chicky!!

  10. lol like I'm gonna listen to that fight for an hour. i think not

  11. I might try it, but whether I would return would really depend on price, service, and convenience. But the most important factor would be whether the food was good.

Such a business is going to have several inherent obstacles. The most obvious would be demand. Would such a restaurant be able to attract enough people to do the kind of volume needed to keep prices low enough. If the prices are too much higher than McDonalds then it's no longer a true alternative. Such a restaurant would probably only work in a large community with a generally health conscious population.

Volume presents another problem. Would such a restaurant attract enough customers that it would be financially viable to do the things needed to be truly fast food. If everything is cook to order and the equipment is not capable doing multiple items at once, then wait times could be a major problem.

  12. I would pay more for an organic restaurant, but not a vegetarian. I like meat. My kids like meat. We need meat. I would be grateful for an organic alternative to the food chains around here. You can't really find anything like that in the middle of the country.

  13. We're not real big on the vegetarian thing. My family eats MEAT!! But, a healthy, organic alternative to the typical fast food is something I'd pay twice the price for.

As far as kids probably not liking heath food, children's dietary habits are a direct result of the parents decisions! If you let your kid grow up on junk they're gonna like junk! My children have been growing up on fresh veggies and fruit, unprocessed foods and healthy fish, poultry and organic grass fed beef. And, just as important is that  they like it. They don't eat McDonald's!

  14. Well....I live in an area with LOTS of organic health food restaraunts, and I have to say that they are WAY more expensive than just a couple of dollars more.  More like four or five times the price.

I would NEVER feed children, mine or anyone elses, conventional "fast" food, and I don't eat it myself, the few times I had it as a kid it made me sick - sick - sick.

  15. No for us.

  16. i'm not a parent, and i bet they would until the kids complained so much that they had to stop, but also the thing is that vegetarian burgers are very good and taste like the real thing, so if you start out with this when the kids are young, and if there weren't as many McDonald commercials, i think this world could be much healthier for kids to grow up in.

  17. I have no problem paying more, but my kids are not vegetarians.

  18. ideally as parents giving them the organic vegetarian option would be the best from a healthy point of view and i would go out of my way to pay a little extra to eat there however, i think its also important to expose children to fast foods like mcdonalds every now and then. (due to advertising, social aspects (what kid doesnt have their party at Mcdonalds at least once??) the media and self control in later years)

  19. i believe you should introduce your children to all type of food it you eat. you never know what they like

  20. no, they wouldn't want to go there.  We don't eat tons of fast food but it is a treat for them.  I also wouldn't take them to a fancy expensive restaurant either.

  21. I would take my kids once, and if they liked it I'd take them back, but I've yet to find anything like this that kids really like.

  22. Absolutely!  Especially if there is a play area.

  23. i would definitely go if it had a drive through, but i don't have the time to get out of my car

  24. I would if the food was reasonably priced. I would expect it to be a little bit more. The food would also have to be food that my kids would eat. I am not spending more if it is just going to be thrown away.

  25. I wouldn't take my kids there only because I know they wouldn't like it.  (They love McDonalds.) But I'd love to go there myself.
