I mean as early as infancy? At what age was your child diagnoced and when did you first start to notice something was wrong?

  1. My son was probably dealing with it literally in days following birth.  He lay on his tummy (they didn't keep babies on their backs then), and literally pushed his toes raw!  I was sent home with a tube of Neosporin and instructions as to how to keep his feet safe!

Other than that - he was finally diagnosed at age 7; his second-grade teacher persuaded us to have him checked.  He's now 27 years old, and will probably take medication the rest of his life unless an actual treatment is found.  His uncle and numerous other relatives also sufference from ADHD - it was just before it was recognized as a disease, and they tried to self-medicate with things like booze; one committed suicide.

That doesn't mean things are bad - au contraire!  His symptoms are well-controlled; he's a senior mechanical engineering student, and doing very nicely :-)

  2. a very early sign of ADHD is a distinct lack of fear , i mean jumping into deep water without thinking of the danger , no concept of climbing to high in a tree etc
