Don't you think it's all over priced? It all seems a bit s****. to me and I feel bad for little girls whose parents can't afford all that junk. I've passed the store in Chicago. What is in there? I heard that there is a theater and a restaurant! I think the idea behind the dolls is neat but I think girls don't really care about the stories but just want the dolls to "fit in". When I was growing up this is how it was with Cabbage Patch dolls, remember that? That was insane though. My Mom was lucky enough to get my sister and I one at the height of their popularity but she spent way too much and I only wanted one 'cause it was the thing to have at the time. I think these dolls are just creating little girls that'll turn into adults that have to have the right purses, the right car, and the perfect summer home in the Hamptons. Do you know what I mean???

  1. i didn't get one when i was younger. i didn't want one because they are regular dolls just sold expensive. i think girls just want to get them so they can show off and think they r sooo cool. I don't care for American dolls. Why cant kids just read the books they r educational and cheaper. They just get the dolls then throw it on a shelf and it does nothing. They can buy stock or bonds or save the money not just blow it all on a crazy doll. When they grow up life isn't going to be easy like that, that u can buy American girl dolls. Just get a teddy bear like at build a bear or a porcelain doll. I am not trying to be mean or i am jealous because i don't have one or cant afford one because i can afford one but i just don't care for dolls like that.

  2. Uh... No... Tha's how much they should be worth. Anywayz, I bought American Girl Books.

  3. I like the American Girl books because each girl represents a time period in history and my daughter learned something from reading the books.  She has gotten all the mini dolls (as presents) and they are only $20.  We went to the American Girl Store in Chicago and all I can say is "only in America".  There were dolls getting their hairstyles, people that needed carts for all the things they were buying.  It's very snobish.

  4. Yes, i only had one American Girl doll(hand-me-down) and i look at friends who had at least 5 or 6 and every last one of them wears all the in clothes and must always fit in perfectly and have the newest things. It seems insane to spend $50 on a doll. the store has a theater and some tea party lunch place, for the kids and there dolls. But any kid that starts with everything that they want and whats in ends up being the rich person who lives in Beverly Hills, and thats what our society has come down to.
