For parents that have hired or currently have a partime caregiver?

What were some of the skills or expertise that you looked for when you hired a part-time caregiver for your children? I am not talking about babysitters, but actual nannies or "at home" day care providers. I would like to know what you thought the caregiver should have as far as skills amd experience go.

  1. Be a good cook

    Be patient

    Kind

    Clean and organized

    Drives/has a car

    Willing to take the baby/kid for a walk

    Good story teller

    Clean criminal background

    Safe driving record

    Legal documents, never hire illegal aliens

    Dress properly

    Treat the children with respect

    Able to provide First Aid / CPR

    Prior child care experience/ references

    High School Diploma minimum


  2. Unless you know the caregiver personally, I would want a list of references that I would be able to contact.
