For parents with ADHD kids, how long did it take before you saw results in new meds?

Hi, i started my son on Adderall 15mg xr today b/c he's been on dexetrine for 3.5 years. He started when he was 4 years old. The dexedrine worked great up until about a month ago. It only lasts up to 230pm and then he is hard to handle. So now we started him on adderall. I havent noticed much difference at all. Its like he's on the dexedrine. He's still chasing the cat around the house and he is lippy with me about certain things so im wondering if i have to wait a few days? we started him on the lowest dose of adderall 15 mg but now im thinking i should of listened to the doctor who wanted to start him on 20mg. Do you think one day is too soon to tell? He's not being super difficult but he is still being slightly defiant with the cats and being argumentative at times. I know the medicaiton doesnt cure ADHD completely along with the ODD but it does help.The addreall lasts for 10-12 hours. He took it at 9am and its now 3pm and its no diff't from the dexedrine so far.

To be sure, I think you should call your doctor and ask. I'm no expert myself, but I would think that it would be some time, maybe a week, before you began to see change.
