I come from a REALLY competitive school and is the best public high school in the city and probably the best in California. As a result, students don't usually get really high grades (approx. 3.67 unweighted) unlike other schools in the city. Will UCs consider what school you attend and be more lenient towards your grades if they know that the school you attend is very difficult in the academic area?

  1. In general, it's rank that matters, not GPA. The exception can be state schools which take a quantitative approach to admission. I have seen kids get burned this way at UCs.
