I am able to get a starter kit very cheap for sirius, but I have no experience with it. I've been around XM for some time now (my dad has one, and there's one at work). Is Sirius something you enjoy having?

I like to listen to alt. rock and I enjoy xm's comedy channels.

  1. I've had Sirius for a few years now and I've also had XM before.  I like Sirus a lot better.  I like the channel selections a lot better. (They've got good alt. rock and plenty of comedy). I have Sirius in my cars and in my house - love it.

Check them out at http://www.sirius.com - they have a channel guide online.

One other thing, and this may sound weird, but I had a couple of cars that had XM, and whenever it would go into a "deadzone", it would make this static - snow sound - really annoying.  If it ever happens with Sirius, it just goes quiet and then fades back in... A lot better - especially if you're listening with your speakers cranked!  :)

    Enjoy!

  2. I have Sirius and I LOVE it!

The car I bought a month ago came with a free 6-month susbscription to Sirius, and I do plan to renew when the free period is up.

Sirius has just about any kind of music you could want to listen to ... pop, rock, alt., country, classical, as well as music from other countries.

Sirius also gives you comedy channels, several all-news stations, weather channels, sports, and loads more.

Best thing is NO COMMERCIALS!  And the reception is great, crystal-clear.  The stations don't fade in and out like they can with regular radio.  I'm sure that's true of XM, as well, though I've never used XM, so I'm not familiar with its features or how it compares to Sirius.

But, yeah ... if you can get the equipment cheap, their subscription rates are pretty reasonable, and you get a lot of product for the money, I think!
