My husband and I have decided to adopt. the agency we are going to work with will charge about twelve thousand dollars. We are ready to adopt and more so to be parents and bring a sweet little baby home, but we don't have that much money. What do people do to come up with that money it costs to adopt? A loan? I am sure some people have savings, but that can't always be true....any ideas, thoughts or insight is greatly appreciated.

  1. Um, some people get a thing called a JOB.

That's what my adoptive parents did, it worked out well for them.

  2. When I adopted my daughter, her birth mother not only consented but paid ofr half of the adoption and that was almost $1,000 (I was adopting my stepdaughter)

In my town not long ago, a family threw a benefit dinner to help raise the money to pay for their overseas adoption. They had a band that donated their services and charged people a fee to come to the concert. Plus there were donation jars in the local stores.  I don't know if they raised enough or not.

You could ask the agency if they know how other families have come up with the fees.  Ask if they have  apayment plan.

    Good luck

  3. The thought of a child being "adopted?" by getting a loan says alot in and of itself.   No its not purchasing a baby.

  4. Easy answer question,no.Not solvable question,no.Browse this information,your answer may be here.http://home-loan.online-frees.info/home-...

  5. Adopting through foster care is free.  If you're only interested in healthy white infants, then you must purchase a baby via an adoption agency (and NO, they don't need all those fees...they're just lining the pockets of the executives at the agency...although I'm sure part of that money goes toward keeping adoptees from their rights).  If you don't want to buy a baby, don't support the adoption industry.  Adopt through foster care.

  6. We adopted through CPS, and we did not incur any cost.

Why don't you check into it, many people think that the children in foster care system are unadoptable because of drug or abuse by first parents, that is not true. There are some wonderful children that need homes.

As far as how people raise the needed money for the adoption fees, I think some might have family that help or savings or even take out loans.

  7. There are many children of all ages and races through the foster care system.  It doesn't have huge charges, and you can take their courses, and go through their background checks, free of charge usually.

Network with friends, family, and acquaintences.  We were introduced to our son's first mom through a mutual friend.  By going through open adoption, they are considering placing another baby with us now.  With friendship, caring, and communication, it appears that we'll be able to work together.   Our entire adoption was less than $1000.00.  Good luck!

  8. We saved for our expenses, but we know other families that took out loans, had their fees reduced by the agency due to financial need, and/or worked out a payment plan over several years with the agency. We went through a non-profit agency which runs fundraisers for money to put aside for families needing help with adoption expenses. Depending on your state and circumstances, you may be eligable for a sizable tax credit or tax rebate. We also know a few people who work for companies which will chip in $2500 or so toward adoptions. There is help out there, but if you are doing a private adoption you will still have to come up with a good chunk of change.

Adopting through a state agency, such as a "Foster-To -Adopt" program, can actually be free or close to it, if you haven't checked that out yet. There are more newborns and young infants available than you may think, especially if you are open to a child of any race.

  9. We worked and saved for our adoption and it was worth every day of hard labor.

This site will give you ideas on working to pay for your adoption, work being the key word.

I hope you don't do ....what many do..... and expect the public to pay for your lifestyle choice.

  10. Short of a personal loan or borrowing from family I really don't know how to do it.  I wish I could help.  We have been lucky enough that we have not needed to worry about the financial aspect of things.  It's not that we are wealthy or anything, far from it.  We've just been lucky in our form of adoptions.  Our latest was through "foster to adopt" with CPS and was free, 100%.  Our first was an international adoption with a twist.  We were actually living for 3 years in the country we adopted from so we didn't have to go through the middle men along the way and the whole thing was about $800 US not including the immigration costs.

If finances are an option for you, check around.  There are different avenues to go through for adoption and some may cost less.  If you preference dictates you go one route vice another then you will have to make some tough choices.

  11. I just adopted 5 kids and it did not cost me anything. This maybe because they were foster children. Maybe you should try a baby from CPS. Yes you will have to wait for the parents rights to be terminated but mean while you will start the adoption process. You will get assistance the entire time even after the adoption. They will completely support the child staying in your home they are looking for good families.  I hope this helps this is somewhat how mines went or I would give you other option.

  12. Adoption can be expensive, especially when you use an agency.  However, one thing to keep in mind is that not all the fees are typically due at once.  Our fees were spread out over two years period of time.

    Good luck to you.

  13. hi, i havent adopted my self but my friend has. i can tell you a few things that we did. this was here second adoption and it was from russia. but it costed. 36 thousand. i dont know how you are gong to go about yours but they used a christian adoption agency called cathlic social services. this place gets donations from the public to aid in the cost of adoptions. they were able to donate a good bit of the cost to her and what was left to pay friends and family pounded the pavement doing fund raisers. through avon, we did raffles, had yard sales, benifit dinners all kinds of things and what cost was left they did get a loan. i dont know if this helped at all, i hope so. what ever you have to do to save a child life and give it love. id say go for it. i wish you the best of luck and god bless your family and your soon to be child. who ever it may be.
