i am going to leave for china in 40 days to study chinese for a year at wuhan university. I thought if i was going to china what better place to try learning martial arts. Is this sort of thing possible for people who don't plan to devote thier lives to martial arts etc? From what i see the options are total devotion or not at all. I just thought it would be fun to learn. Is that just not done?

  1. you can do anything you want. if they will accept you, then you can study as long or short as you like.

  2. uh , you could learn martial arts anywhere. Dont be fooled by all the movies in hollywood. Some of the greatest martial arts gyms are right here In America , and Brazil , and Japan. There is no such thing as a real Shaolin temple anymore in China , so I dont really know why you are going there , anything you'd learn there you could learn here , but I guess its cool to tell people you trained in China.

  3. learning a martial art in china truly needs devotion because it is a way of life for them, they learn through their whole life in order to truly master it

also you would have to understand chinese and any martial arts school in its...origin country is always very strict, more so than schools in america...

    hope this helps
