When you come to a 4 way stop, and other cars come up at the same time, do you stop completely or do you do a California stop? Do you take it upon yourself to go first whether or not its your turn?

  1. I always come to a complete stop. You never know when the other guy won't stop and on a bike you have to be extra careful.

  2. Sandy, I always stop, look, and go.

  3. I pay close attention to other vehicles when coming to an intersection.

I judge their speed of approach, the stopping force their vehicle is exerting and judge when their vehicle will get to the stop line.

Then I pace myself, even slow to a roll, so i get to the stop line as the other cars are already in motion on their way through.

If another driver gets to a stop line and sees my vehicle still moving, that's their cue to go, since I haven't even got to the stop yet.

OR - if there is any confusion as to who's turn it is to go, I'll just sit there and wave the other driver through.

I'd rather wait an extra 15 seconds at a stop, then let an over anxious speed freak turn me into road kill.

  4. What's a question when the obvious answer is common sense. Unless you have some kind of suicidal death wish and want to match your unrestrained and exposed body parts to tons of other oncoming motor vehicle the question is rather immature as well as unintelligent.

  5. i always come to a complete stop i don't wont to get hit

  6. I stop completely.  Too many idiots in 4 wheelers that aren't looking for bikes.

  7. I put my left foot down at stop signs

you know why they call it a stop sign? because you're supposed to stop at them.

They should call them roll signs since that's what everyone I see does.

Very nerve-racking in my car as well, it always seems like the driver behind you is going to roll into you when you look in the rear view.

Thank you for tailoring this question against sportbike riders.

Terrie I was saying to myself via keyboard that the comment I left below was sexist. Self-realization to public admittance.

  8. I know my right of way and don't try to go when it's not my turn... but unfortunately, i live in a small town full of old raisins that don't know what to do at a 4 way stop, so usually end up going anyways because they are still sitting there all stunned looking.

i at least come awful close to a stop, it's handy when i don't have to put a foot down, but it depends on the traffic

  9. i live in L.A. :))) ... so no cop - no stop baby :)

but i look carefully both ways so some drunk *** driver wouldn't hit me.

  10. Depends on who they are. Everyone knows everyone around here and some of those a$$holes will throw it in reverse to run me over! Sometimes I sit there until they've made the block and are coming up behind me and open her up.

  11. Stop, be a nice guy and take turns.

  12. i always come to a complete stop and wait my turn to go. people around here in new england drive like insane people and i'm not gonna risk getting hit! they run ALOT of stop signs and red lights..
