I have ancestry but I'm having problems opening a particular marriage record. It's for a Gerald Lee Conner marriage date 1949 in Duval co, Florida. If it opens for you could you please send me the spouse's name? Thank you.

  1. (Is this the right Gerald L. Conner??)

    www.ancestry.com--Social Security Death Index

    Name: Gerald L. Conner

    SSN: 265-20-1072

Last Residence: 32246  Jacksonville, Duval, Florida, United States of America

    Born: 14 Jun 1922

    Died: 3 Jan 2003

State (Year) SSN issued: Florida (Before 1951 )

Florida Marriage Collection, 1822-1875 and 1927-2001

    Name: Gerald Lee Conner

    Marriage Date: 1949

    County of Marriage: Duval

    Volume: 1204

Certificate: 205%3f%3f (link opens to search page again. Is that the link you referred to?? If so, it does the same for ancestry.com in Canada & UK)

    Source: Florida Department of Health

(This is all that shows. No spouse's name is given for his record, but IS shown for those of Theresa)

For Theresa, I saw these listings:

Theresa Edryce Knott --Date married: 3 Dec 1971--County: Putnam--Groom: Ray Garrett

Theresa Edryce Knot --31 Dec 1974-- Putnam County--Groom: Cecil Carl Arnold

Is this the same Gerald Lee Conner??

Gerald Lee Conner-- 28 Sep 2001-- Okaloosa County--married Roianne Frith

OR: married Deborah Alice Lewis --7 Aug 1971-- Pinellas County

    http://www.knowx.com/mr/summary.jsp?gnam...

GERALD LEE CONNER / ROIANNE FRITH

GERALD LEE CONNER / DEBORAH ALICE LEWIS

(The 2 above cost $7.95 to buy the record)

    http://www.knowx.com/mr/summary.jsp?gnam...

    (No matches were found.)

    www.peoplefinders.com

Had both Gerald Lee Conner and Gerald, Jr. listed in Florida (1 record each) and then 3 for Gerald Leon Conner--5 total--for $19.95. Also, had 3 Marriage records for Theresa E. Knott (only one showed her full name), also for $19.95.

(NOTE: This is the strangest thing. I even tried the ancestry.com site in England, Canada, and GERMANY, and it shows the exact same thing--instead of a usual certificate number like everyone else's--even those for Theresa--his certificate number has those % signs. Instead of  just the number 20533, it shows it as 205%3f%3f. .)

I just tried to enter the numbers 20533-20536 and all open up but the first one. Below is an email I am sending to ancestry.com's help page (maybe they will have an answer):

Subject: " Florida Marriage Collection, 1822-1875 and 1927-2001"

"I have searched ALL your affiliate sites for the 1949 marriage record of GERALD LEE CONNER, in DUVAL COUNTY, FL and get the same response. All the other listings around his has a regular number (for example 20536) that will open up to the record showing both bride and groom's names. On his, however, the number link reads 205%3f%3f instead of just 20533. When I click the link, it takes me back to the "exact search" page where it says something about making sure everything was spelled right or to try searches without any extra phrases, dates, etc.

I am trying to help a lady do a genealogy research for her husband's biological father, and she has gotten the same answers. We just need to know why this man's certificate number is not listed like everyone else's on that particular page and why it won't open up correctly.   Janice Johnson"

I saw 2 military listings for World War II--one said he served on the USS Hancock with the Navy in 1944; and the other said he was in the Army. Both had the same birth/death years.

Edit: Could this be his son by Theresa??

    Florida Divorce Index, 1927-2001

    Spouse's Name: Christine

    Divorce Date: 26 Jan 1990

    Certificate Number: 002452

EDIT, WED. 5/21--Just got another reply from Kimberly from ancestry.com's customer help. She says:

    "Response (Kimberly) 05/21/2008 10:53 AM

    Dear Jan,

    We appreciate your message.

The reason why it does not show her name, is that this is just the index of the marriage record. Running a search on his name will only pull up his information with the volume number and the certificate number. You can use that information, to obtain a copy of the original marriage record/license from the stated vital records for this state for a small fee ."

  2. it is the index only.. does not show name of spouse.

I went back to look at your old questions for the ladys name, and you have them set to private.  I was going to cross check using HER name to see if she shows up with same year/ county and document #

If you want to send her name, I can try.

    edit

could not match using either name to the file and cert for Gerald Conner in 1949.  Found Theresa Knott in 1941 in Bradford co (did not work it to use that cert number to find the spouse).

Sorry, know how hard you are working this.

  3. Hi,

I am getting an image of the listing of Gerald Lee Conner through Ancestry, but all it gives is a page number (162) and a volume number (1204)...  no spouse's name.  Try this link and see if it gets you to the image:  http://content.ancestry.com/iexec/?htx=V...

Florida Marriage Collection, 1822-1875 and 1927-2001

    about Gerald Lee Conner

    Name: Gerald Lee Conner

    Marriage Date: 1949

    County of Marriage: Duval

    Volume: 1204

Certificate: 205%3f%3f [all I can see on the image is the "205," it appears not to have been microfilmed very well]

    Source: Florida Department of Health

I can email the image to you if you don't mind sending me your email address (I don't think I can attach the image through Yahoo!Answers).

I've looked in that same database for Theresa, there was no "Knott" married in Duval County that year, nor am I finding her among the "Barber" surname for those records.

You might consider ordering a copy of the Duval County marriage record...

    Wish I could've helped more!
