For ppl who know alot about nursing homes

Question

i was wondering if they allow volenteers...but not for cleaning helping serving. but for conversation. I was talking to my dad about the past. twas interesting, and i wanna know more. maybe talk to some old ppl.

thats great!!! I used to do that when I was kid - and a teenager. I used to love it, I went to nursing homes after school and all these old people helped me with my homework... there was a math-teacher, a hobby gardner... everyone was really good at something.

Yes you can volunteer, if it is not a medical specialised nursing home (for demented or ill people) they will apricciate help.

Nursing homes often have afternoon activities for old people, like drawing or chess-playing etc. Call the nursing home and ask them if you could join for a few afternoons. Say you are interessted in talking to the old people.

They will definitely appriciate it!

Yes. And a few hospitals are allowing volunteers to stay in the Emergency Room with people who have been sewed up but are still frightened and alone.  You can make phone calls for them.  Show them where the bathrooms are.  Find them a shirt if their clothes were cut off them. I plan to do this. /
