  1. Here are some of my "Tips":

If you think you can learn something from this coach, stay with it, no matter how much you would have to "suffer"; if you don't like the way your coach runs the team, and you really don't want to suffer, save yourself some time by finding a different team that works better for you.

1> Most coaches in entertainment leagues, such as USYVL (http://usyvl.org) would be very nice and would never yell at any player, as long as you would like to play there. They set up net for you and teach you fundamentals, and play in team environment, but are not very serious about win or lose.

2> In serious leagues, "Nice" coaches could silently sit you without telling you why.

3> Some coaches, like my boy's coach, would yell at players all the time (whenever anyone makes any mistake, in practice or in real games). He was not really mad at anyone, but just wanted to win... and wanted to teach you how to play... and his teams won most of their games. The reason I got my boy into his school thru "school of choice" is that some of my neighbors’' kids went to his camp in summer simply because he knows how to win games. Those parents were warning them "Remember he was yelling at his players on the court... he was so rude..."

4> You learn by making mistakes, but most players would not know how they did it wrong until the coach pointed it out. I tried very hard (and nicely) to tell my boy what he did wrong but he never listened to me... but when the coach told him the same thing in front of his teammates, he improved.

  2. what do you need help with

  3. as of experience., practicing is always good..

do the "agilities". this can help you especially to a beginner..

you will be moving faster each day you practice...

aLso remember to "bEnd your kneEs" to earn a good deFense for the team...

  4. when you are serving, make sure you have a nice toss(about 2 feet above your head) extend your arm, and contact it with a firm open hand. you have to do this over and over it will NOT be perfect your first time, so dont get discouraged. and when you are passing, check to see how low u need to get to the floor by getting into position and touching the floor. this will get your body low enough to get a good pass. second, dont jump or swing your arms!!! that is the thing that irrattes coaches most, and last, keep your platform flat and direct your hands where you want the ball to go.

    hope this helps=)

  5. When I played volleyball the coach would always yell "BEND YOUR KNEES!" and "ELBOWS LOCKED AND STRAIGHT"

    I hope that helps.
