Is it better to buy juice, milk, etc in plastic or paper?

Which has less of an effect on the enviroment?

  1. plastic because paper have a few layes of plastic that is harder to melt and is not as pure

It depends on where you live and what is recycled there.  Some places in a given area will recycle plastic containers, but not the paper cartons.  In that case, it would be better to buy the plastic as the paper would end up in a landfill.  But if there is, say, no recycling of either in your area, then go for the paper as it will eventually biodegrade.  And be aware that certain communities will only recycle certain kinds of plastic, so take that into consideration regarding your packaging choices.  But if both types you mentioned above are recycled in your community, then it won't really matter.

  3. for me, both are the answers for your question. on the other hand, plastic, when thrown in the river or burned, they have a big effect with the environment. paper, may also lead to the environment's damage as well...so i guess both should be recycled properly...ü
