I'm obviously not a very experienced rider, and I know what a lead change is but just not how to execute it. Thorough answers appreciated! :)

  1. When you are in an arena and you want your horse to begin a lope on the correct lead you tap or squeeze with the inside leg while kissing to cue them to speed up. That will give you the inside lead that you want. Most horses with training will respond to that. When you are at a lope, you can tap or squeeze with the leg you want to change to and once again, a well trained horse should do it.

  2. Kick with the foot you want them to switch to. switch to left, kick with your left

  3. Que off the opposite hind hoof.
