For scuba divers: If you have your period (and use a tampon) can you go scuba diving if there are sharks?

Yes. I've done it. It's true that sharks have a great sense of smell and can smell a drop of blood from miles away, but most sharks you may encounter don't eat humans. They also are not active during the day (at least not usually, depending on the shark).

So, unless you're diving in dangerously shark infested water, without your buddy, you'll be fine.

Either way, it's not the sharks you should be afraid of.
