For someone new to Kayaking, what kind of kayak should I get?

I would probably use 10X a year. I want to get a double as I will be bringing my 4 year old son on board. Would a single work for someone that small?

i single would work if its like an ocean kayak, which are TONS of fun in the summer, but not too much in the winter, even with plugs (which fall out a lot) you wont stay completely dry...i have a two person pamlico but has a removable third seat (which is great for my large family) and two ocean kayaks (ones a one seater and ones a two seater) i would reccomend a two seater if you plan on keeping and using the kayak as he gets older and if you plan on using it in the summer i would deffinitely get an ocean kayak, theyr sooo much fun but if your son will be crawling out of the boat a plamlico wont allow too much movement and both are pretty steady as far as capsizing goes

it rly depends on when you will be using it and how much control you have over you son, on an ocean kayak if you arent holding him he can easily climb out, but ocean kayaks are TONS of fun
