Supposing you had to cross over one of those little right turn lanes with an island. You are going northbound. Which light do you take when you want to cross? The north/southbound green light or the east/westbound greenlight?

If you don't know what kind of intersection I'm talking about, here's an image.

  1. You cross the turn lane whenever it is safe,  and then the intersection with the light.    Treat the turn lane separately as you have traffic from only one direction to contend with.

  2. Use the light that corresponds with the way that you are traveling.

  3. You use the light that controls the direction that you were previously going, unless there is a separate light. In this case if the top of your picture is north you would use the north bound light.
