For syrians, is nationality a big issue for getting married?

Like anything else, it's hard to generalize based only on their nationality. I work with a gentleman from Syria who has been married to an American woman for 17 years. They have two children (adorable!) and he loves both his wife and children very much. It really depends on the person, not just where they're from.
