  1. all that would do is slow you down....running is the fastest way to get past the line

  2. I don't know what the rules state but throwing or jumping is only of any advantage if you must finish dead on the line. Hence in base ball the runner will slide to the base.

  3. Yes, as long as you do not go outside your lane then you will not get disqualified.  However, I would not advise you doing this b/c you will prob. lose some of your speed.  You should rather just lean in at the end of the race to beat your opponent.

  4. It's legal. However, as mentioned before, there's reason professionals don't do it. The official ruling is when your TORSO crosses the line, so puffing out your chest and trusting it forward at the last second is the wisest move. Good luck in your meets!

  5. Yes, for all the good it does. Usually it doesn't do any good at all, the best strategy is to use the standard "lean" technique where you lean forward just as you get close enough. Diving is risky because if you time it wrong, you'll end up on the track without having crossed yet.

The American who qualified 3rd in the 800 at the US olympic trials did get his place by diving. You can probably find the video of it on You Tube. Run a search for "2008 us olympic trials 800" Name was Christian something-or-other.

Diving is a desperation move that usually doesn't work, but it can. It has to be timed just right. Leaning is much less risky.

  6. idk ask americans they have a history of that .. like gail devers ect lol

  7. I don't know, but it's not a good idea, it's faster to sprint through the finish line.
