Either, as long as you use the same method every time - you're watching for changes, and you'll pick up the changes regardless of how you test.

You can use either way.  Not sure if one is more accurate than the other.  If you go orally, just make sure you place the thermometer in the same place under your tongue every morning.  Good luck!
