  1. There's not really that much you can revise except the presentational devices and the structure of whatever question will pick in the second section. The main thing to revise is the poetry for Thursday.

    Good luck. =]

  2. yeah, i'm having the same exam. And i'm really trying hard to revise for it, cos i want a good grade. I'd advise you to revise over Rhetorical devices (like rhetorical qu's, hyperbole, imagery, alliteration, assonance etc) and Presentational devices (use of bullet points, structure, colours, fonts etc) Just make sure you can spot these out when reading the two articles in section b, and can explain why these may be used, what effect they have on us.

Also in the mark scheme it clearly says that for section a, you NEED to understand the difference between facts and opinions.

And for section B, you have to be aware of your audience,

And whether your persuading/arguing/informing. And you need to adapt your writing to suit this.  Eg, if your writing to a teenager, you may want to use colloquial language every now and then.

Also my teacher said that examiners LOVE anecdotes (a short story, made up, it strenghthens your argument/persuasion). So make sure you use a suitable anecdote if possible.

I'll also point out the Rule of three (eg Its cruel, callous and criminal) This is also good to use.

Thats all i can advise you!! i hope you do well

  3. not a lot- our teacher gave us a sheet about different techniques and presentation features that we can write about for the comprehension section, so i'll probably have a look at that on monday- but im mainly revising history at the moment so ill leave english for a while
