  1. through our taxes.

  2. There is no health insurance for the NHS it is tax-funded. If you take out insurance for private care that's your own doing, but you are still entitled to NHS help.

The problems with the NHS are any that would be present in a massive organisation (one of the biggest in the world), but still it provides world-class healthcare regardless of ability to pay. Where else can you get that apart from Cuba?

Edit - Private (with n**i insignia) is full of BS. The system was already in embryo form with the Liberals in 1910.

Before the creation of the NHS childhood diseases were rampant killers in Britain and general health improved 70% during the first ten years of the NHS.

People who complain about it have benefited from it already and simply want to dismantle it for two reasons: To lower tax (which will likely be wasted elsewhere) and to allow private companies to rob people for healthcare.

If anyone believes care under the NHS is low, they'd need to explain why the NHS has managed to pioneer research into numerous treatments and cures and also why it receives fewer complaints of malpractice than every other European country with semi-private care.

Since Thatcher allowed American companies and the former head of healthcare policy in the US (during the 70s) to interfere in the NHS it has suffered. This has been allowed to continue under New Labour. Thses are the moves that have denied treatment to people based on cost-effectiveness.

  3. We have a national healthcare programme called the NHS.

As such, we pay our health insurance to the government.

On the whole its a popular system because the majority of the public have come to believe that the healthcare is free because National Insurance payments are drawn at source and individuals dont feel the pain associated with paying other premiums.

The truth is,the NHS is ineffective. It was a bad idea from the beginning,it was a scheme dreamt up to boost the Attlee labour government into power at a time when the population was vulnerable.

Since this time it has been a constant drain on public resources.A huge leviathon swallowing taxpounds at an alarming rate whilst all the time the quality of treatment and care falls.

New Labours answer was to throw even more billions at the monster. This only served to make the beast fatter and less efficient.Thousands of unnecessary managers, useless departments, poorly directed resources, grand scale mismanagement, lazy, overpaid nurses, immigrant, underskilled doctors.MRSA.Dirty hospitals.

    The list goes on.

Worse still, many people are forced to seek private care when the NHS fails to perform or give them treatment that they have already paid for.

Private health insurance is becoming more common even though National insurance is already enforced.

The comparisons to other countries that dont have a national health plan are easy to make. The standard of healthcare in Britain is the lowest amongst all other nations of similar economy that employ private healthcare.

Essentially, the NHS doesnt work and health suffers as a result.

Unfortunately,it remains a popular choice with those who feel that they will no longer get "free" treatment.Until such a time that the public becoem more informed about the differences, then no government will take up the unpopular challenge of dismantling it.

    edit.

I think skeptic is one of the suckers who believes everything the state tells him.Probably one of those who voted for Tony Blair .

I would suggest he reads up on his history before making up statistics hoping to impress someone.

its not often that anyone can change a fact about when the NHS was introduced into a completely different fact about someone else thinking about it in 1910.Thats an argument? lol

    Get it together skeptic.

When you have worked for a while and seen a little of the world you will have a different outlook.Until then ,leave the politics to the big boys.
