For the first time ever... i hate my honda civic

my o2 sensor will not come out!

i've sprayed it with rust remover and wd-40 [not at the same time]

and i've ran the engine for two minutes like the book says...

it still will not come out,

this thing even broke one of the tools i had to rent made especially for this job,

how can i get it out without burning myself anymore?!

please any tips will help,

whoever can give me some tips that work gets best answer,

i don't want to have to take this to a body shop cause i've already spent about $110 on this...

  1. i dont think your using enough leverage, the longer the better!


  2. metal expands when it's hot. try letting it cool. when completely cooled, it only takes a little elbow grease to undo it.

    never try to undo a bolt when its hot. both the male and female threading is expanded by the heat causing them to be pressure locked. the metal is also softer at high temperatures, you can easily over torque and break the bolt.

    try taking two wrenches with one end closed and the other end opened, and inter-lock them together two enhance your leverage.

  3. If the open end "C" wrench did not work and you cracked that, then the sensor is really seazed in there tight.  I would say try next a clamp with an adjustable tightener.  You can adjust it so that it tightens real good when you clamp down.  This will give you more leverage as I'm sure you've already stripped the sensor.
