how long did it take you to be able to do the splits? i want to be able to do it cause for some reason i find it cool. :) i'm not SUPER flexible but i'm not really a stiff person either. i am a figure skater so i have some flexibility.

can you tell me some stretches that might help me get it faster? i already know the one where you sit up against the wall and try to go as far as possible. doesnt seem to help me though. if you could just help me out here it would be greatly appreciated. :)

THANKS!

  1. it really depends on your age and your body how long it will take. i take a stretching class targeted on cheerleading stretches and i have my splits. some basic stretches are to sit in a straddle and stretch left right and middle for 30 seconds each. also stretch in a lunge for 30 seconds on each leg. the best stretch is the splits, so just work on those! make sure to hold it for 30 seconds. also, before you stretch take a hot bath or hot tub for 10-20 minutes to loosen up your muscles! good luck!

  2. It took me about four months to do all of them, even when I stretched every day, but I'm a guy. This video really helped me.

Stretch every day and do not take days off and you should get them. Good Luck!

  3. hmm. i can do the splits... ive done cheerleading for 6 years..

sit like flat on your butt on the ground with your legs apart.. then try to touch your foot.after you can touch your feet, try to get your nose to touch the middle of the floor.

also, go down in split position and go as far down into the splits as you can..its going to hurt a little but that means next time you can go down alittle farther.do that like every night before you go to sleep and go down a little further each time you do it, make sure you hold the split position for about 20 seconds.. i know its a long time but just try your best!

    you can do it

  4. its taken me a really long time to get my splits, im just NOT naturally flexible haha. a good way to streach for them is go as far as you can the tighten both your thigh leg muscles really tight and hold it there for about 30 sec. it gets you closer after a while!  if you really want your splits practice everyday streaching for them. and make sure to do both legs.

hope i helped. and good luck

ive been doing gymnastics for a long time

  5. Honestly It depends on how often you work on it and how much effort you put towards it!

Put your foot on to an elevated mat and slide down into your splits this is going to hurt more but once you have that down then your split will be flat on the floor =]]

  6. i've been dancing since i was 3, and i'm 15 now, and i still can't do a split.  i got really close though, and to do that, i just held my split for a minute or two when i practiced, and i really pushed to try and get it down. you can also do stretches on a barre, put one leg on the barre, and lean over it, or away from it, trying different positions. if you don't have access to a bar then you can really use anything, such as a couch or table to rest your leg on. those stretches help too.
