  1. I like both but I ride western more. They both have their benefits, but for me English is more challenging. But when I sit to the trot I have a good seat and I am not flopping all over the place. That is because I am used to the jog, and how bumpy it can get. I admire anyone who rides. English is tough though cause it's about balance and contact with the horse. Western is just as hard because its about relaxing and going slow.

  2. I love English. If you master English it compliments your western skills, since the English saddle takes more contact with your legs and body strength. English is more difficult and challenging. when you ride English you feel more one with the horse and more connected, it takes more discipline with the body, and after all your training it is more rewarding when you go over that first jump. Got to love it. If you want to go rope some cows ride western, if you want to do everything else ride English(its nice not to have that horn in your way all the time)

  3. I have ridden both Western and English for a long time. I have to say, though, that English is my all time favorite. I love hunters - the training, the frame, the jumping, the flat work. There is such a discipline too it that I really makes a clean hunter round worth it. Dressage is beautiful, but I don't do it as often - it makes my butt hurt to be honest. Western pleasure classes to me, sorry if this offends, seem like nothing more than fashion shows on horse back. I never got into it. I do like working cattle, it's more real. However, if a horse bolts with me in a Western saddle, I am a lot less comfortable than if one bolts with me in an English saddle. But the chance to ride is more important to me than what type of saddle is on my horse's back.

  4. I like both can't say either is better. But I do like english like 1% more than western but right now I am focusing on western and in like 1 or 2 years might start jumping...

  5. I like hunter jumpers. It is easier for me. Westen hurts my back and unless i am on an experianced western horse i get frusterated lol. I used to ride a western pleasure horse and i found it kinda boring. I liked doing the patterns though and i think barrels would be a rush. I really like to jump though and love dressage and eventing. It keeps me on my toes.

  6. I've done both and they both have their own virtues.  I don't think I can choose one over the other! ☺

  7. I like both though I train WP there is nothing prettier than a HUS horse and I do have a few that my Assistant  shows for me as Im too old and just not pretty and petite enough to show......LOL
