For the third time, is my pomeranian puppy ok?

I think that some of you earlier, got the wrong impression about me; so let me try this for a again.

Earlier, my 16 weeks old pomeranian puppy tried to jump out of my arms, and he did, and he landed on the ground, then got up immediately, he didn't even pause. I notice now that he's limping a little. When it happened, it seemed like there was nothing wrong. Going to the vet is not really an option right now.(read below on why). After a few days, if he doesnt get better of course i will take him to the vet. Do you think that he will be ok?

I just don't want to take him to the vet, for every single little thing, it's not that i don't have the money. You don't go to the doctor every time, you leg is in a little pain. Neither do dogs, i'm gonna wait it out a little while, before i decide to take him to the vet. Please don't be rude about it, i am a good pet owner!

Please, I need people that actually understand. I do not want people, simply saying, take it to the vet now!

Thanks

I had lots of people post that they understood, and so on, the second time i posted this. I contine to post this, because i wish to get the most answers! Thanks

  1. You should touch the leg see if there is any part that makes him yelp or move or do something to let you know hes in pain. Like one poster said at worst it could be a fracture but the leg could just be a tid biit sore. Like a pulled tendon or just a sore one. Try ice on it just like a sprained ankle or whatever. My older dog limps at times when we take him on a to long of walk so i just went out and got him k9 asprin. You can find it at petco or petsmart see if your pup is old enough and weighs enough to take some. It helps a bunch for my dog.

just keep an eye on it like of there is swelling or it is getting more and more painful. Use YOUR best judgment nnot other peopes its always nice to have input but you live wiith your pup you can make your own decision if it needs a vet.

What they will probably do nce you get to the vet os work up an estimate for x rays and some anti inflamitories.

Like i said keep an eye on it try some doggie asprin see if that helps with the limping and do what YOU want to do and what you think is best for your little one. Obviously you are a good owner because you are om here trying to see what you can do to help. Dont worrry about all the other people. But if it goes on for a long time and home remidies dont help the the vet would be your best option.

    Best of luck!

  2. Poms think that they can jump off a cliff and be alright, don't they? My pom did the same thing. She jumpd right out of my back pack and hit the ground hard! Poor baby! But, like your pom, she limped for a coupla days, and was fine after that. Here's what you can do: Manipulate the leg gently. How does she react? Is there swelling? Feel along the bone for any swelling, or hot spots. Most  likely he just bruised his little paws and I'm sure he'll be alright. Just remember that poms will jump off of anything to get down and you must be careful how high they are. Good luck.

  3. if this is your third time posting this, that makes it seem that something is wrong with your dog and you really need answers, instead of going on to yahoo answers call up a vet and see what you can find out. and wouldnt you much rather take your dog in after you saw somthing wrong and have nothing to be wrong with him/her, then waiting and then go in and find out something was terribly wrong that would have been better treated earlier? so go on a website with vets adive or somthing more proffesonial than yahoo answers... good luck, and im not trying to be rude, im just giving you my opion, and other people are too, thats what this site is about... opions

  4. Tons and tons of pom breeders and just pom lovers told me how a pomeranian's knee's "pop out" (I have forgotten the medical name, sorry) and so that is why pom's aren't allowed to go on sofas, and aren't allowed to go up and down stairs (even though my pom can go upstairs).  So I would go to the vet, because if your pom has this very likely injury, it will not heal by itself.  I would take it to the vet just in case :)

  5. So you're concerned enough to post this same question three times but not concerned enough to go to the vets?

You're right about not going to the doctors everytime my leg hurts because I think "oh, it's okay, I know EXACTLY how much pain I am in. So I can make my own decision" - the dog can't think that!

I would ring the vet for advice, it is most likely just bruising but it COULD be a fracture and you'll never forgive yourself if it is, as it will get worse if left untreated. See what the vet says, if they say bring it down, then do that!

...and stop spamming....it IS spamming, before anyone argues.

  6. im pretty sure hes okay... just stop askin the same questions....

  7. If he is using his leg it's probably not broken.  Is he holding it up and refusing to put pressure or weight on the leg?  If so, then he needs to see the vet right away.  If it's broken, it needs to be set before the bones start healing.  If he continues to limp in a day or two, better get him in and don't try to medicate him with pain relievers.

Keep him quiet - no running, jumping, going for walks, rough housing, etc.  Pomeranians are quite fragile and many have broken bones just jumping down from the sofa.

  8. Im sure hes ok,just mind the heights he jumps from as his legs are delicate and hes still developing he is quite young.

  9. Argh, i hate it when people act like  their saints on yahoo answers/

Im sure some of the people (cough person 2 above me) don't rush their pup to the vet every little time does something like sneeze !!

I would'nt worry, what your doing is fine (:

Just keep an eye on it for a day or two ..

and don''t give the dog too much exercise or make it run around too much.

To be on the safe side, try to keep its bed, food and water on the same level, so it does'nt have to go up and down stairs constantly.

  10. He can't talk, so you have to judge for yourself what the damage is. Does he put any weight on it? Does he whimper? Is he eating? A great place to ask is http://www.allexperts.com/cl2/263/Animal... they will email an answer back to you from a vet. I suggest you take your question there. They will not be judgmental, just helpful.

  11. Like i told you :D

at worst it is a fraction and if he limps after 3 days take him to the vet :D
