Question:

For the vegans out there-

Any advice/suggestions for a vegetarian doing the switch? I live in a small town so there are not a lot of options for vegetarians so this is going to be challenging to say the least. The nearest "health food store" (trader joes whole foods) is hour and half away.

  1. I'm not sure of your question if you are going from vegetarian to vegan or normal meat eater to a vegetarian, but either way you should be able to find plenty of options at your local grocery store..most Lucky's/Safeways carry vegetarian/vegan friendly options these days, which does make it very convenient. I barely go to any kind of health stores like Whole Foods even though they are very close.  I was just at my local Lucky's today, and I found lots of vegan friendly products. In this day they have so many options out there for us. Hopefully you have a bigger grocery store that carries vegetarian "meat products" such as Boca burgers and so on...so those help. Most stores today also carry some kind of soy cheese, soy milk, soy yogurt and puddings and so on. Today I even found vegan bread in the normal bread aisle. Of course it didn't say vegan, I had to check the ingredients, but it was all soy and wheat based.

There are plenty of options and recipes out there. Good luck on the switch, I know you'll be glad you did. =]
