  1. Vegans...the ones that are loud and annoying about it are a bother; look, I don't hang out at the farmer's market screaming profanities because you choose to eat what you choose to eat, so return the favour.  Live your life, let me live mine, and let's move on.

The problem is that most vegans have that secret love of meat; they go to a cookout and everyone's enjoying their burgers, chicken, ribs, seafood...and there's our vegan friend, eating some frankenvegan burger made from all kinds of c**p (read the label on one of those creations).  It's not enough for them to "choose" to be a vegan...nope, they're not happy unless they get to preach to everyone and generally annoy people.

Factory farms...they're bad.  But what of the all the salmonella they're finding in your various veggies...look at the conditions your migrant farm worker works in sometime...hope you like eating fecal matter.

Plus, vegans do not get enough protein in their diets, putting them at risk.  You should eat some meat; a couple small (3-4 ounces) servings of line-caught fish (salmon, tuna) is a great source of protein and all kinds of other stuff.

With this being said...could people stand to eat less meat?  Of course.  Portion size is out of control.  Also, if you're going to kill an animal for food, use the whole d**n animal.

The history of humans shows a long history of eating meat; and yet...somehow our vegan friend is going to buck the entire history of humans.  Think about the big influential food places (China, continental europe i.e. France/Italy); not a lot of veganism going on there.

  2. it is not a natural diet for humans, we are evolved to be opportunistic omnivores. we should eat fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts, meat, dairy, eggs, seafood, and poultry. a vegan diet is not stupid or unhealthy if properly balanced and researched. unfortunatly the vast majority of vegans, and to a lesser extent vegtarians eat very poorly, processed junk, starchy rubbish, and unblalanced nutrition, of course the same is true of meat eaters.

  3. To me, hard to condition myself to different diet at this age, obviously I fear vegetarianism is miserable. It attacks one of life’s greatest and surest pleasures - enjoying good food. For those vegetarian parents, and kids those are born to be vegetarians are much much grateful (though i don't belief in reincarnation).

  4. Here are some: ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/ index? qid=20080721204145AAZ16uM&r=w I'm rather disappointed by the lack of legitimate answers, but perhaps they will help answer your question.

My opinion on vegans, as a whole? We're caring and concerned about the world around us.

  5. The hypocrisy of it all.  You still indirectly kill animals by buying soy and corn-based products.  It is a FACT that deer, geese, turkeys, raccoons, bears, etc. are killed by farm machinery during the planting and harvesting of soy. SO, all you animal champions out there, do you feel guilty?  Yeah, I know, you'll just thumbs down instead of admitting FACT.  Vegans on here only care about animals specifically raised for slaughter.

Another thing, by your own values and virtues, you cannot be a sports fan; leather ball, shoes, etc. You cannot be a music fan, leather, hair spray, etc.  Why are you on the computer or drive a car? It's not environmentally sound.

I'm guessing most vegans are city dwellers, anyone with a country background knows reality and doesn't equate animals with some cartoon Disney face.

  6. as humans, God gave us a good indication of what an what not we should consume.

For example, just look how similar our teeth are with that of Cows and Horses..

we are designed to eat Vegetables not meat..

  7. I'm not against veganism, I'm against Vegan idiots.

It seems like every vegan person uses PETA videos as the sole proof to why they should be vegan. I have lived on farms my whole life and it makes me sick when people tell me that the cows here are unhappy and being treated badly. Sorry, but you aren't here on my farm so how can you make judgements on my cows.

Not every farm looks like a PETA gulag. people need to do more research than just watching a youtube video or reading what PETA has to say. PETA is very very very biased.

I admit there are great health benefits of being vegan, and being vegan is a great step towards good health, but most (not all) of the vegans I have spoken with are very uneducated on anything outside their PETA world.

Meat has been a critical aspect of the human diet since before we migrated out of Africa, and without it we wouldn't be here today to even make the choice not to eat it.

  8. I kind of agree with Lulu when she says that some vegans start fights by showing these nasty bloody videos that does no one any good. But I would have to disagree about the happy animal farms.

While the animals on your farms may be happy, the ones that end up on your plate for supper are not. Their poor death is an indication of that.

  9. I don't think it is stupid nor am I against it. But I don't believe in it either. This is not a case of the "if you are not for us, you are against us" syndrome so vegans and non vegans should be able to live side by side with no problems whatsoever.

When one "side" tries to impose their will/beliefs on the other or when one sees oneself as superior (and/or the other as inferior) or when one considers oneslef more morally upright than the other etc. is when most problems occur.

What do I think of vegans? I don't think of vegans. It is not a subject I think of unless it is a part of the conversation initiated by someone else. But frankly, I find other topics more interesting. Vegetarians are just customers that I serve in my restaurant. We woujld like to accomodate vegans but the principles involved are more than what is practical for us at the moment. We do serve dishes that I believe are vegan but we cannot make that claim for now. Maybe in the futture we can, but at present, no.

  10. Hun you KNOW you're just going to get a load of unresearched BS.

"It's not NATURAL! (but somehow drinking the milk of another species is natural)"

"It's UNHEALTHY! (even though vegans are less likely to be obese, get diabetes or heart disease)

"Our ancestors did it! (when they weren't burning witches or beating their slaves)

"We have CANINE TEETH! (although gorillas also have canine teeth and they are vegetarians, by the way, we have FOUR canine teeth and 26 flat teeth)"

  11. I think it's an unnatural, artificial diet. I understand the reason behind it, but I think it's taking animal care too far. The Vegan diet is not sustainable without supplements, and can be very hard to keep properly balanced. It can be very unhealthy without proper care and research. And yes, I know that the average person's diet is not healthy either, but the simple difference is that nobody is claiming it is healthy.

I accept people's right to make their own dietary choices. But I simply cannot condone or accept the Vegan diet as a viable diet. If you're happy with it, and are making adequate effort to keep it healthy and balanced, then I'm happy for you. Unfortunately what I've noticed of most Vegans on here is they have a tendency to be very vocally "holier than thou". Their personal beliefs are just that, personal. They are not universal truths, and I'm not obliged to share those beliefs. But I'm called a murderer because I eat beef, and even eggs are off limits and referred to as chicken fetuses. This militant ignorance makes it very hard to deal with vegans. (at least the militant ones) They insist their way is better, often citing reasons that are either false, misinterpreted, or based entirely on their own beliefs, not fact.

Good luck with your vegan diet, just please make sure you're doing it right. And if you can't get it right, please give up on it before it really hurts you.

  12. Simply put, do not follow the herd. Eat what you deem healthy, what you see as appropriate, , not to be rude, STOP FOLLOWING,, LEAD! God bless, and hang in there.

  13. I'm vegan myself, I admit some other people who choose to be vegan are idiots but doing a good thing (in my eyes) but people often make assumptions. Not just about vegans but any and pretty much every type of person. There are some vegan people who will try and force their believes onto you and such which I think is stupid but the whole world does it so what are you gonna do. And Some vegan people think every animal is unhappy if it's not running around free and not fenced in a paddock and such.

But I and lots of other people do understand that animals can be happy and live a normal life and still be used to get milk and such but I choose not so consume those products because the majority of it comes from large companies doing what I believe to be wrong and unnecessary to make more money. Watch "meet you meat" on youtube, try and say that is a nice way to be treated.

What I'm trying to say is don't hate vegans because some idiot tried telling you to change, hate the person. Vegan people get "normal" people telling us to change constantly and I don't hate everyone who eats meat for what other people have done and stuff.

P.S. To the guy saying how vegans kill animals indirectly, there's only a certain amount one person can do. The amount of animals killed by farming machinery would be significantly less than the amount killed for meat or died whilst producing eggs or milk or the amount killed for fur and stuff. If your not buying or endorsing the product your not really supporting it so you can still like sports pretty much.
