How long did it take from filling out the form to getting an offer?

I'm told the wait is as long as a piece of string however I'm just interested :D

  1. I fell pregnant unplanned in 2005 my partner and i work full time but have been turned down with private renting due to a ccj. All 3 of us currently share a small bedroom at my mothers house.

we have been waiting 3 years so far for a place and have been made LOW priority with the council.

some area areas work by way of bidding-you get given points then whoever has the most points at the end of the bid, gets the property.

some areas work by a waiting list most people in this situation wait about 5-10 years.

Points and priority are given out according to your situation,if you already have accommodation you are considered low priority.

  2. Me and my daughter were made homeless when she was 9 months old.

I had to go into emergency temporary accommodation. This was a basically similar to a static caravan but not as well made.

We lived there for 4-5 months before I was offered a council house.

It was more quick for me because they were knocking down the units to build new houses and also because I did not mind where I ended up.

Luckily we ended up in a nice area.

My brother's ex partner's parents waited 16 years for a council house.

    My friend waited 2 years.

It all depends on your circumstances. If you have somewhere to live then you are not classed as a priority

  3. .  I know a lot about real estate in the USA.  I don't know anything about council housing.  If you click on the flag at the bottom of the page, you will get great answers.

  4. It didn't take long, but I rejected it. Then the council changed to a "bidding" system, where they advertise empty homes and invite you to say which ones you would like, rather than simply allocating them.

To get the one I wanted took a while, and a few changes of circumstance too. By the time I was housed I had been on the list for 4 years.

  5. my partner was homeless and i was due to be and our local council still couldnt offer us a house and we were willing to get one anywhere

We signed up with a local housing association (like council houses but just not called that) and got a house within a few months

    hope you get sorted
