How did you fell about it? Was it good?

I personally believe it was by FAR the best speech i've ever heard.

How do you think McCain's speech will stand up to Obama's during the Republican Convention?

  1. Will go down in the history books, hands down. Profound, detailed, inspiring, and with a clear, cohesive platform and message.

It is everything that a politician aspires to achieve, and few that ever do.

It's for that reason that the McCain campaign had to deflect the news from Obama's speech with the VP pick. And no, McCain can't hold a candle to Obama, whether in speeches or his policies.

  2. How man have you heard, honestly? I have heard about 8 seeing that every 4 years we go through this, and to me (and I  follow politics closely) it was just another "democratic promise speech"  Yes the stage was great, the population was too, but the ACTUAL words coming out of his mouth were rhetoric of the democrats, without the How's.  How we will afford the $150 billion he will put into ed, well if he "said" he is going to cut taxes WHO is going to pay the $150 billion?  Dem's make promises they cant keep. Sorry, that is why Clinton was the ONLY democratic president to do 2 terms.

  3. I listened to half of it and it was rubbish, only simpleton sheeple wold fall for the c**p he spouts !

It will go down in history as a well delivered load of NOTHING, a load of hot air c**p, how can any of you seriously tell me he told you anything he can acutally do

HOW IS he going to have NO OIL Gass used in TEN YEARS you are dreaming if you think this fool can deliver ! anything but misery !!

  4. It was just more liberal trash telling everyone he will "give" us everything by taking our money from us to buy it. Obama showed us that he has no respect for the intelligence if the American people. McCain will do no such thing. McCain will tell the truth whether you want to hear it or not.

  5. he had a very good speech but did you notice how he said that Hillary was an inspiration and role model to his kids after trashing her a few weeks ago in his other speeches not only that but here he is saying that he cares for soldiers  and the army but when he was doing his world tour he refused to enter and see and speak to soldiers that were injured with out having the press around him i think that he is an as hole for doing that he had already said he would visit them i think obama is a disappointment and yeah he has good ideas the only thing is that they probably wont be put into effect if he is president that is how politics go they promise but don't deliver and one more thing the economy cant change with just 4 or 6 years it takes a long as time just look at how long it took for the us to get out of the depression he wants to make it a"happily ever after" but is doesn't work that way even tho is sounds good for a speech

  6. I don't support him or agree with most of it, but it was a very good speech.  I did think Hillary's speech was better, though.

  7. It was an excellent speech. So much so that McCain had to act quickly to distract everyone from talking about the points Obama made about how much McCain will not make the needed changes 90% of the time (how often he supported Bush's decisions).

  8. I don't think McCain's speech can draw as many views and tears as Obama's did. Obama gives hope. McCain brings fear. Obama shows that there is a chance for things to go back to the pre-Bush years. I only see 4 more with McCain.

You know, I must say, Miss Thang with the quotes, Janny. You are worse then those reporters who pull out bits and pieces of things just to get your point across. I understand he said that, but still, he went into full detail later on in the speech. Don't be the media and loop things.

  9. I was there and I think he covered everything he needed to cover.  The haters and the skeptics will not listen to his words and believe he really means what he says, but his entire life shows me that this is a man with a world view who cares about freedom and democracy and human rights for all people, not just the US.

The reality, to me, is that us humans shouldn't be killing other humans in order to control the wealth of the world and that all human life is precious and nobody should take something away from someone else to make their life better.  You wouldn't do that to your child, you wouldn't do that to your neighbor (at least I hope not) so why is it OK for American interests to gain wealth by taking the assets that rightfully belong to someone else?

Obama cares whether you believe it or not, I believe he is what this country needs to show the world now and not a minute too late.

I am a Democrat because Democrats most closely resemble those views.  This country has done a lot we should all be ashamed of and we have done little without our own interests being put first.  Now that we are without assets, now that China has ownership of what were American assets and now that we are in debt to them for all of our follies during these last 8 years, we better at least show some compassion to the world before they foreclose on us.

  10. I thought it was excellent! It made me feel better about voting for him instead of Hillary. He is everything I want in a president.

  11. I thought it was a great speech.

McCain has been full of surprises lately, so who knows how he will do.

  12. very good speech, i think.

to be fair and unbiased and open-minded and blah-blah-blah, I'm going to attempt to watch McCain's speeches at the Republican convention, but I guess I'm gonna have to drink 10 six-packs of Red Bull to stay awake.

  13. I thought that Hillary's speech Tuesday night was very inspiring. She sounded like a true leader.

  14. Obama's words come out right and he is a better talker than McCain but he has no substance for the middle income class, women and the elderly who are not fooled by his speeches. Youth makes the body strong but not the mind.

  15. To tell you the truth, it kind of made me want to vote for McCain. I don't know why, it just did.

  16. What have you been smoking? It was almost the same thing that has been said for the last 30 years.

  17. I don't remember any speakers before Roosevelt - so perhaps there were better speakers than Obama - Lincoln perhaps.  But certainly in my lifetime, Obama is the greatest political speaker I've ever heard.  On the basis of speech making, McCain doesn't even stand the tiniest ghost of a chance.  He really is bad and whiny when he speaks.

I imagine during the long boring republican convention the news services will have to replay Obama's speech just to keep people awake.

  18. I was moved by Obama's speech.

I really don't know what McCain can do to match that, it was watched by almost 40 million people. That's more than the Olympics. What can McCain do to get nearly that many people interested in hearing from him?

  19. Obama is a good speaker, but it wasn't that great of a speech.  Very vague.

    Here's an example ....

"We may not agree on abortion, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies in this country.

The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than for those plagued by gang-violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals."

Um, duh.  Of course everyone doesn't want a bunch of unwanted pregnancy or criminals to have AK-47's.  That doesn't mean we will agree with Obama's solutions.

Was there really anything in the speech that another presidential candidate hasn't said before?  People put WAY too much weight in speeches.  Seriously, try to find ONE thing he said that was a new idea.

  20. Just his typical fluff...I was unimpressed and turned off the TV.

  21. The Speech was OUTSTANDING! Obama has a Presidential glow about him. The Entire Convention was off the hook!Outstanding Endorsements from Clinton's!Nominated by a Republican! Hillary awarding nomination to Obama. It all worked very well! I was totally impressed how Obama & Staff have conducted this 21st Century Campaign! We are truly Blessed just have to recognize and support it.

    Michelle Obama was OUTSTANDING!

    Obama/Biden 2008!

    Ebony & Ivory Presidency!
